Yes, there will always be those who need to rely on something or someone else.
But, as a whole, I believe the WTS does much more harm than good.
i know that there's a lot of people here who have been deeply hurt by the jehovah's witnesses (i have as well).
i also know that the gb are a bunch of lying bastards.
still i have also met a lot of people who have made their lives much better by becoming jehovah's witnesses.

the following is a summary of peak publishers vs. amount of people baptized since the 6 million mark was hit.. peak publishers.
here is what the average publisher numbers look like.. average publishers.
something happened to 526,989 avg.
Remember, they always taught that the love of the greater number will cool off. IF, in fact, they start losing a lot of members, they will pull this ace card out, and announce to everyone how this is a major sign like never seen before, and the end is just about there. So you better straighten up, or you will be toast at armaggeddon.
the organization teaches that we leave everyone and everything else behind when we join christianity (also known as the "truth").
your father, mother, brother and sister all have to be given up to become a "real" christian.
friends that you grew up that are not of the same religion must be abandoned.
Look at the classic lists of charactoristics of cults, and witnesses will nail 9 out of 10 of them every time.
Try it. It's scary.
Can you imagine it??
A Wal-Mart greeter, has the power to destroy family units in his congregation. This man, is responsible for many people in the hall, yet, his job is a greeter. He can df someone, and everything else that elders have the power to do.
last night in choir rehearsal at church, a woman asked for prayer for her family and for her daughter.
seems like her 28-year old daughter had just met and married--within 3 months--a very nice man, but who is a witness.
this lady was (to me, anyway) understandably upset.. she didn't explain the difficulties already happening within her family, but it sounds like there's already been some drama.
As I've said before, I am convinced that if the WTS were to fall, it will be directly because of access to information found on the internet.
This again shows that young people have no business whatsoever getting baptized as a witness. They really have no clue about the ramifications if they ever mess up, or decide to leave the religion.
do you remember it?
mine was in the 7th grade by a boy named joe.
it took me by surprise and i was dissapionted, because he tried to swallow my face!
I will never forget my first kiss.
A "worldly" girl from high school. In fact, I still keep in touch with her, and my wife has even met her!
i was reading another thread of the high # of defections within the org, and this lead me to question:.
when and if, do you think the org will totally ban jw's use of the internet?.
i think it will happen, they are starting to see a big drop and need to curtail it some how, and they know that many surf the web and come across sites like this, and once people discover all the coverups and the "new light" stuff and personal stories, their are going to be questions that lead to being df'd or da's.
I don't think they will try to ban the internet completely, but they will continue to discourage it.
Hopefully, because of just that, some will look, and see the real truth behind the WTS.
If the WTS were ever to crumble, the internet will have a huge impact on it. Think about it, before the net, no one had access to all the information that we have regarding the witnesses.
i'm pretty sure that a few people whom i have met personally from jwd have actually gone back to being full-blown witnesses.
(i guess i must be pretty scary in real life, eh?).
i think too, that some of them have suddenly become believers again.
I never considered that maybe some here have actually gone back to the WTS. How sad.
day 8
the elders announced a new meeting schedule at the morning meeting.
on sunday, we will still have the public talk followed by a study of old watchtower articles until we get new magazines.
Think about it, life as a witness in the "new system" very well could be agonizing.
I wouldn't at all be suprised if more effort and thought was given writing the above posts than the average witness actually dreaming about what paradise would really be like.
