In our hall, very few ever used the bathroom during the meetings. Even if you used it during the songs, you would get the look.

Were you a bathroom breaker?
by Mysterious ini swear my mother used to keep better track of my bladder than i did.
she'd sit me down occasionally for talks such as "i noticed you've been going to the bathroom a lot during the meetings lately maybe we need to cut down on what you drink on meeting nights" etc.
others would go 2 or 3 times a meeting and if i went twice a week i'd get a talk about it!

A Question for Apostafest-Goers
by jeanniebeanz infor those of you who have attended an apostafest.... have you come away from a fest with a different opinion of someone who posts here than what you expected?
have you ever disliked someone on the board due to a difference of opinion expressed here, and found out that, in person, you actually liked that person?
vice versa?.

I have only attended one apostafest, and really enjoyed the company of a person on this site, with whom we share radically different ideas regarding politics, brought out on this site. But he is a great guy, and have nothing bad to say about him.

Remember when KH's had a piano and real singing?
by WingCommander inthe thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.
they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.
there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.

There was a friend of mine that was an excellent pianist, who would play at the meetings. He started to jazz the songs up, to the point where everyone was excited, and singing, and having a good time. But he got counciled big time for bringing attention to himself, and he quit playing. Later, an older lady in the hall would play. I would always look forward to when she was bring a little more to the song, but ultimately, that was stopped, and then soon after, the dumb records came around.

What Did You LOVE About Being a Jehovah's Witness?
by Seeker4 inok. minimus had his 'what did you hate about being a jw' thread, so i want to take a different tack on this.
i'll even start it.
i loved some of the get-togethers we had.

There really isn't anything that I loved about being a witness that I wasn't able to find elsewhere, with much more meaning.

Another Deceitful Tactic by the WTBTS.
by gumby inas most informed jehovah's witnesses know, the wtbts is very good at painting a pretty picture of themselves by cleverly wording things to outsiders, yet not revealing the specifics of their beliefs.. below is an example from their official website regarding whether or not they shun members who choose to leave them.
they do not tell the public of the interogation they impose on members who wish to quietly leave ( fade ).. notice they mention how they are more than happy to restore those who exit, but fail to mention the types of questions they ask to those who leave them.. while they admit they shun those who verbally express they no longer wish to be a jehovahs witness, they do not tell the public they coerce that very statement from those who try to leave peacefully and quietly.

With the WTS, there is no graceful exit.

Our congregation actually believed that there were some local congregations that were a bit too worldy, and quite possibly wouldn't make it through armegeddon.

Like others here, I am very suspect in the validity of this poster.
One word for you....EDUCATION.....
Then, use it, and do something for yourself, and quit worrying about everything else.

How open are you to new ideas.
by poodlehead inwhen i was a jw, i believed what i was told to believe.
after all it was the truth.
but now i no longer believe that what they were telling me was the truth.

I am completely open to new ideas. I am thankful that I now don't have an organization telling me what to believe. I can make up my own mind for a change.
