I have studied martial arts for nearly 18 years. Many benefits to them, and it simply depends on what you want to achieve. Peace and relaxation, then Tai Chi might work well for you. If you want endurance, then perhaps Tae Kwon Do, involving sparring. If it is purely self defense, I have seen nothing that touches San Soo Kung Fu. Absolutely devastating. Though anyone training in that, I would recommend some sort of previous martial art experience first.

When I missed months of field service, and became "irregular" I didn't get a copy of the KM either.

Why cant J-Dubs provide more help to their sick?

Witnesses do most of what they have to because of having no choice. They must put field service time in, they must go to the meetings, etc. Not that they want to, but everything they do is because they must.
In contrast, in the churches I have attended since leaving the WTS, people go because they want to. Anything they are involved in at the church is because they are moved to do so, not because they have to do this or that.
I think that is a perfect explanation. Those who by nature do things because they want to will go farther in helping others, rather than those who are forced to do things they really don't want to do.

Did your Kingdom hall ever cancel meetings?
by moshe inwe were building a new kh- not quick build- and we had to vacate the old building and the new kh was not finished.
the elders decided to cancel all the meeting with the exception of the tuesday night bookstudy in homes.
we had no other meetings for about 4-5 weeks.

Where I grew up, never did they cancel a meeting. When I was older, and moved out of state where it was colder, once or twice a year it would be cancelled due to extreme ice on the roads, unsafe conditions. I always loved that! Didn't happen enough though.

What's Wrong With Some Parents?
by XJW4EVR intoday, i go over to a fast food place for lunch, and while i am walking to find a table with my food, a group of rowdy and unsupervised 10-12 year olds come tearing through the restaurnat, and one of them runs into me.
my food and drink goes flying, and i shoot daggers at the stupid brat.
this brat doesn't even apologize.
-
freedom96
Indeed, some people feel as though they owe no one apologies, regardless of their actions. If someone is out of line, I have no issue whatsover pointing that out to them.

Binoculars at the District Assemblys
by restrangled inanyone remember spending most of their time staring out of binoculars for good looking people out of the binoculars for prospects and then spending your free time in that section hunting these people down?.
this past time as i remember was the most wonderful part of the assemblies!.
tell your story!
-
freedom96
Yes, I too remember my dad bringing the binoculars to the assembly. And yes, general direction of the stage was helpful. But I did enjoy watching people through them. Helped pass a few moments by.

Hell No!
My parents did somewhat when we were kids, and as my short time as an adult as a witness, I would never have dreamed going to a meeting during a vacation. I hated those who thought they had to study the Watchtower during the vacation.

God's Name
by Wordly Andre inmy wife (lifetime nonjw) has never been around any jdubs her whole life, until she met me and my crazy family.
today i was reading some of the posts from this website, and she asked me why do jw call god jehovah and not just god or lord, isn't that like calling your own father by his real name?.
i remember when i was a kid i said lord once and my dad corrected me and said jehovah, why is that?

When we speak to those of authority, don't we usually use words to show respect? Can you imagine being in front of a judge and addressing him by his first name? In school, didn't we call the teachers Mr or Mrs? We don't even call our own parents by their given name.
So wouldn't it be disrespectful to call God by his name?
