WHY NO MEDIA REPORTS ABOUT JW CHILD ABUSE SETTLEMENTS???

big news that the catholic arch diocese in california has settled a lawsuit of over 600 million dollars to victims of abuse.. shouldn't the media be telling the story of the recent watchtower settlement???.

there should be an investigative story on this i would think.. the witnesses always talk about being persecuted, yet they are getting a free pass on this and this is pretty big.

There are 70 Million Catholics and about 500,000 active JW's in the USA. The catholic chiruch is a bigger story and most of the JW molestation cases involve family members while priests are the accused in the Catholic Church. Besides no one is surprised when a creep that knocks on your door on Saturday morning turns out to be a weirdo!

JW Atttitude toward Illegal Immigrants

i have a jw friend that is letting an illegal immigrant live with him.

the brothers in his hall know his status (i wouldn't be surprised if half of them were illegal as well) but mention nothing about "obeying caesar's laws.

anybody else ever notice this?

I had a JW boss that was second generation mexican immigrant and he would rant about illegal aliens all the time. His father came her legally so he had no sympathy for them.

self employed witness dubs

i know several dubs who are contractors doing various jobs.. what irritates me is i think half of these contractors stay dubs for the sole reason that they get tons of work.

plus if your an elder or have some other bs title, the 'friends' will actually be happy to pay a little .

extra because they know they are helping (brown nosing) an elder.. that just pisses me off.. how many dubs do you know who stay dubs just to network jobs for themselves?.

People at my Church are self employed and network for jobs which doesn't upset me in the least.

The sacrifice of Christ to redeem humankind, Why?

the perfect man and woman, soon after being created, failed short of god's requirements and so sin was introduced into the world.

according to the watchtower, god's law required a "life for a life" and so a perfect human needed to be sacrificed, i.e., killed, in order for humanity to be redeemed.. my simple question concerning this doctrine is....why?.

how does the death of a human, perfect or otherwise, help matters?

Well, I'va made it through Friday.....

so i have the friday of the district assembly behind me.

i have learned;.

i need to cancel my cable so i can study more and read the bible more and have less temptation to buy "new toys"i need to sell my house and buy an ol' fixer upper so my wife can stop working and pioneeri need to sell all my "toys" and my cari need to trust the fds implicitly because jehovah does.i need to pray more, study more, preach more, go to more meetings, etc.

Can the Elders Be Prosecuted for Covering it up?

ok i got to thinking, the elders cover up and do not report allegations of child molestation and if they know of a known molester amongst them they do not warn the cong, correct me if i am wrong but isn't that a crime?

sexual offenders are supposed to stay away from areas were child ren congregate, such as a playground, school, library etc.... jessica lunsfords neighbor was charged with harbouring a pedo, (he was not registered at her home) isn't that the same thing the elders are doing?.

anyone care to enlighten me?.

In some States the elders can be prosecuted for not reporting child abuse, however they have no obligation to tell the congregation about child abusers in the congregation. That is not unique to the JW's, because nobody has the requirement to tell you about the criminal history of a person that attends your church.
