" i will attempt to transcribe the more salient points for everyone here.. paragraph 1 (verbatim): the bible commands christians to "abstain ... from blood.

We as Jehovah's Witnesses guided by our bible trained conscience find it unacceptable to eat alphabet soup. No matter how hungry we are.

BUT

We can eat the individual letters from alphabet soup in the following list (a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z) if our conscience allows us.

We cannot by any means eat someone elses alphabet soup

If while we are eating we vomit some alphabet soup we can eat that.

By doing this we bring praise and honor to our GOD Jehovah.

We are TRUE christians because we don't eat alphabet soup! Prais Jah!

parakeet, Sorry if I gave you the idea that I was angry, I am not. I just thought about it and thought it would be funny. I could imagine how I would have felt if I had gotten a slip with someones address from an elder and went to call on them and they started asking why I was there and getting mad and such. Then going back to the elder and telling him what happend. LOL Sorry you don't share my same sense of humor.

My day out if service - halirity insues

i am a fader for those of you who don't know.. i have been avoiding field service as much as possible, less than once a month for the past 3mos.. anyway, last saturday i did not have any way of not going out with my wife (she is unaware).

so i go out.. these days i only read scriptures to people, encouraging ones.. well, wouldn't you believe i got the only person pissed at witnesses that day.

when i asked if i could read a scripture, he said he didn't mind the scripture but did mind people comming onto his property and telling him that their faith was better than his.

Oh, and by the way, I don't wear polyester suits. In fact

I wear some really nice suits, ties, and shoes.

I even have a really nice tie I got from my trip to Croatia (the birthplace of the tie/cravat) earlier this year.

I try to look good.

WELL, wouldn't you believe I got the only person pissed at witnesses that day. When I asked if I could read a scripture, he said he didn't mind the scripture but did mind people comming onto his property and telling him that their faith was better than his. I was shocked but wanted to laugh at the irony as well.

He shut the door just as I told him that I did not think that my faith was better nor did I tell him that.

I did try to use the experience to discuss with my wife why someone whould have that feeling about the JW's. We even discussed where we would have ended up if both of us were not raised in JW families.

I just thought about the odds that ME someone trying to get out, only going out once every two months or so, gets the pissed off JW hater.....LOL

I think I will go back to him alone and explain things and how to handle witnesses and questions to ask.

I think they should re-word the quote to something like this.

"Those who were witnessing from house to house over a 110 years ago when things were very different, before planes, most autos, the internet, tv, radio, and just about anything else you take for granted, Oh yeah, and by the way they are all dead now. Well anyway they think that house to house distribution of liturature is the best way of spreading our own brand of Truth. Although we don't charge for liturature and you don't get a cut anymore."

I have bought the CDs of reprint scans. I have searched, printed and read the July 1, 1893 ZWT. I have been unable to locate this quote.

Can someone confirm if this is a screw-up or if I am loosing my mind. I know this is minor but I would like to know.

A Warning to Bush and Blair!

my understanding is that both bush and blair are 'christians' and the worst kind as well, the ones who claim to be practicing christians.. one day, like all of us they will die.

they expect to meet their maker, god and expect to give an accounting.. what can they say to redeem themselves?.

by their actions and more importantly 'inactions' as of late, they may hear the unfortunate words: 'you're going down!'.

Friendship gone, cause of questions...

well i wont go into huge detail, but i had a friend of mine that was 16 years older than me, really close friend and actually i considered him a brother.

i went to meetings and book studies with him for many many years and he wanted me to become a jw.

my family being christian was mad that i was attending meetings and learning their doctrine.

I would say that you thought witnesses were involved in a "life saving work".

Is he no longer concerned about saving your life?

Is he only willing to witness to ones who have no questions and accepting anything he says without research?

Is that how Jesus would handle it?

The Boreans were commended for examining what they were told before accepting it.

Does he expect less of you?

If he has the TRUTH, he would be blood guilty not to do his utmost to convince you of the same!
