The "Sovereignty" Doctrine is Stupid
by metatron inperhaps some of you had to suffer thru the society's latest special talk in which they rehashed the idea that our evil world exists.
because satan's challenges have to be answered.. .... but no one ever reasons on what a truly dumb idea this is!.
the dumb part of it is the fact that jehovah is said to sustain the universe, "making it rain upon the wicked and the righteous".. there is simply no way that god could be challenged on a "moral" basis since there is no way to ever prove that god.

OK believers, time to put up or shut up...
by Gregor inapparently, a large percentage of xjw's who post on this site have embraced some other form of god/jesus belief to replace the wt doctrine.
most of them fall into the "i accept the lord jesus christ as my personal savior" class.
they are still extremely attached to the old "forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of jc" line.

Here is a link that has quotes from many other secular historians about Jesus;

Hope this helps.

Tacitus on Jesus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Roman historian Tacitus wrote concerning the Great Fire of Rome, in book 15, chapter 44 of his Annals (c. 116):- But not all the relief that could come from man, not all the bounties that the prince could bestow, nor all the atonements which could be presented to the gods, availed to relieve Nero from the infamy of being believed to have ordered the conflagration, the fire of Rome. Hence to suppress the rumor, he falsely charged with the guilt, and punished Christians, who were hated for their enormities. Christus, the founder of the name, was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius: but the pernicious superstition, repressed for a time broke out again, not only through Judea, where the mischief originated, but through the city of Rome also, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their center and become popular. Accordingly, an arrest was first made of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of hatred against mankind.
Here is even the information that is not very flattering, just so you don't say I am biased.
Some scholars, such as Gordon Stein, have suggested that this passage could be a later textual interpolation by Christian scribes[1]; others, such as Georges Ory, that the name was originally Chrestus, with Christus being a later substitution[2]. The 19th-century scholar John Wilson Ross suggested that the Annals themselves had been forged by the Renaissance humanist Poggio Bracciolini, but his thesis has found no support among classicists and palaeographers.[3] Unlike the case with Josephus on Jesus, however, there is less clear evidence for doubting the authenticity of this text; debate focuses rather on the nature of Tacitus's sources[4].
Tacitus is considered the most reliable scholar of his time. He had access to Roman archives, and his only mistakes arose from occasional reliance on secondary sources. In this case he could have been using either Christian sources or Roman archives. It is argued that if he had been using Roman archives, he should have identified Pontius Pilate as a "prefect" rather than a "procurator," since Pilate is known from a surviving inscription to have been prefect (i.e. governor), as is also stated in the Gospels. The more serious criticism is that the records would have identified Jesus by his given name rather than "Christus." In addition, Christian accounts were readily available while centuries of inquiry have turned up no authentic contemporaneous Roman documents related to a historical Jesus
I think you have to take the information for what you want to believe

Are you tired of the whole atheist/believer debate?
by nicolaou ini'm usually the first one to stir this particular pot but it get's so frustrating to keep coming up against the same old arguments.
the phrase "banging your head against a brick wall" springs to mind.
how many times have believers argued for a designer but refused to answer the obvious question of the designer's origin?.

startingover,
First things first, when I said some tear down I did not mean those who question someones faith in sincerity like you do. I meant those who name call and act like I am uneducated, stupid or deranged for having a certain belief.
You are right that God can open your eyes to believe in him. But the Bible shows that many will not believe right now. It is pointless to show all the scriptures here if you don't believe in the bible. but for those who do believe than they will believe that the world is given over to Satan to blind the minds or the unbelievers for a time. Not all are blind, and this is the group that is called the true "Church of God" or "sons of righteousness" This group will reign with Christ. These are the ones God calls. Why them and not others, I do not know.
Isaiah, Ezekiel and Jeremiah fortold that ALL the nations of the earth will have their eyes opened during Christ's reign. They also all fortold the establishment of God's Holy Temple in the Holy Land Jeruselem and the Laws given out from there by Christ to all the nations. There are too many verses to list. If you read these books, you need to use a good bible concordance along with Bible commentaries to get the correct understanding. I also would look up all the cross-referenced texts. Many prophecies regarding the Jews had a two fold meaning. It will tell you in the bible itself what applies to our time. It usually says "in the last days" or "the final days". That is why the JWs books of these Bible books are total hogwash. They apply things to themselves that have not happened yet. Here is one verse that most people know off the top of their head that shows the kingdom is not for only the Church.
Isaiah 2:1-4 (New International Version)
1 This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:2 In the last days
the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established
as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills,
and all nations will stream to it.3 Many peoples will come and say,
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths."
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.4 He will judge between the nations
the Church called out now does not need to again learn about God's ways, they already follow his ways and are approved. So, this kingdom is not just for believers. It says many nations and many peoples. Here is a Q for believers to ask themselves. If it is true that Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers, than how could a loving God hold those "blinded ones" responsible for not obeying him? Unless he opens their eyes to their blindness? This will happen and then "all the earth will be filled with the knowledge of God". After the church is gathered. If the church is gathered to reign with Christ who will they reign over? The JWs believe only them but they are limiting God's grace. I hope in some small way this helps. Because that is a good point that God has to open everyones eyes. Think about this too, why did Christ speak in parables if he wanted everyone to understand him and turn around now to be saved? He gives the answer himself in the gospels, maybe some of the believers will want to look this up themselves. If you don't find the answer, pm me. Take heart the time is coming when all will understand. Thank you for letting me try to explain some of my beliefs. I know sometimes I don't do a good job and therefore I am relieved that I am not trying to convert the whole world to my belief. If I was, the world will be in trouble.
and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore. -

Is David Blaine Possessed?
by lonelysheep inthat is a question i used to ask myself in my dub days.
prior to that, i'd always enjoyed magic and stunts, simply for entertainment, and always felt it was just a bunch of bologna.
then, when i studied the bible, there were the answers, so i thought!
