Anyone Else See Les Miserables?
by BizzyBee ini went to see it today - by myself (mr bee is on a golf junket).
i was glad that that i was by myself because i cried so much at the end, i wouldn't have wanted to be with anyone who wasn't crying - and that would not have been mr bee!.
les miserables the current film is adapted from what is considered one of the half-dozen greatest novels of the past 150 years and one of the longest novels ever written.

Good article! What a hypocrite, she should have been blasted and called out on the carpet right there in front of those poor kids.

2 year old in China run over-people just walk by
by PaintedToeNail inwhen i saw this article on the news it really disturbed me.
the callousness of the 'people' walking by this poor, sweet baby as she lay writhing in pain and all alone, was horrific to say the least.
my blood truly felt like it ran cold and i've been thinking about this little girl all night.

My daughter just told me about this. The thing is the chinese have no respect for women at all. Running over a girl child would be the same as running over a stray dog. In china they actually fine people who try to help others. The people are very cruel there.
In one section of MA, there have been a lot of chinese immigrants in the past 10 years. And many complain at how rude they are. They will bump right into elderly people in the supermarkets, nearly knocking them over and will keep going without so much as an "I am sorry". Their kids are very rude too, and they spoil the boys treating them like kings while treating their daughters like slaves........I think the culture is mostly to blame but also they live in a dismal athiestic country where it is "survival of the fitest" so what do you expect?

Christians Please Explain
by AK - Jeff insince leaving all organized religion, all superstition, all acceptance of deity, i have a terrible time truly understanding 'religious' thought.. i really do.. how is it possible for thinking people to just accept, without proof, all they accept?
this morning i overheard a conversation between two christians in a coffee shop.
they say to me 'dad, what's wrong with just being a nice, good person?

I don't get the hostility either against those who wish to remain christian. I think Mary said it all really and I totally agree with her point. Not all Christians are alike in belief, I personally do not believe hell is a fiery place. I am also anti religious establishment but am all for personal spirituality and belief in Jesus Christ.
I don't find any of the teachings of Christ harmful to mankind in any way. Its when man gets involved and adds to these teachings that we have a problem. Religion is a way for man to dominate other men and that is all. Christ calls us to be free...."you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free".
Peace to you Jeff, Lilly

Did any of you need counselling or psychotherapy as a JW?
by TimothyT ini have just started my new course to be a qualified counsellor.
naturaly i am studying this because of my own background and now i want to help others who have had similar strains on their lives.. i know the pressure that the jw organisation puts on its members, so i was wondering, if you dont mind saying so of course, did any of you attend counselling sessions due to the pressures and problems that the jw life brought along?.
i can imagine that the majority of my old congregation (myself, my dad and my brother included) would need some form of counselling or medication in order to remain sane.

Niether my hubby nor I did, I think because we were not raised in the org. But we had counseling for both our kids who were in it since birth. Our daughter was 11 and our son 9 when we left. They did have some anxiety for a while, our son especially thought "jehovah" would destroy him because the left the "truth". And our daughter who is 19 now and doing better, had some social anxiety issues for a couple years. It was harder for them since all the friends they ever had were JW kids and to loose them all at once for a child is very hard.
The therapy for the kids was definately worth it, they are very well adjusted now with tons of friends. Peace, Lilly
