awhile back, i saw information on another web site about the wtbts's involvement with the swaggart case.

the information was presented in a way that depicted the wtbts as involved with the swaggart case and, therefore, false religion.. at first, i was shocked.

however, i did some research on what an amicus curie is.

i've been told that it takes him up to a week to compose one of his pieces of work.

They have supposedly been useful in helping hundreds of people out of the org.

I wouldn't hesitate to drop the "supposedly."

One of Farkel's pieces helped my future mother-in-law to drop her Witness pretense and admit to being disgusted with the hypocrisy she'd seen in her congregation. Another of Farkel's pieces helped lead one of my brothers into several months of inactivity, and although he's attending once again, he admits there something fake about it. He'll be out soon enough.

These are only two peripheral examples.

I have an old Farkel piece on my laptop, and perhaps later today I'll cut-and-paste it into a new thread.

I actually have a very tenuous Oprah connection ... I work at the television station where Gayle King, Oprah's best friend, worked for many years. So, before Gayle moved on to better things, I actually worked with her. Unfortunately I was always kind of shy around the news anchors back then. But who knows -- maybe a little name-dropping will get me somewhere!

Why are the JW's so bad?

i've been studying the bible with a jehovah's witness in my town, and i'm rather enjoying it.. but why do so many people hate the jw's.. i've researched on my own and have come to the conclusion that they are right on most accounts including the trinity, blood, nationalism... etc.... and the more arguments i hear against the more i'm drawn into believing what they stand for.. and every argument i've seen in support of the things jw's are against the more i think the jw's are right.. so why are they so bad?

1) DF=disfellowship, which is excommunication, which is probably what you'll get if you decide you disagree with doctrine. Doctrine = anything the Organization publishes + the local elders' personal prejudices.

2) If the JW you study with has non-JW friends, cool. No one said there aren't liberal-JWs. I wonder, though, how much time your JW instructor actually spends with these friends, and I wonder what his status is in his congregation. Is he a mere publisher, or an MS, or an elder? And how old is he (how old are you)?

3) Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Well, I got kicked out of my house for wanting to go to college. That was before the "new light" said college was okay so long as you were going for a trade. The point isn't money so much as not having a job that occupies too much of your time, so that you can spend more hours distributing the Organization's magazines.

Have fun in your new religion! I don't hate JWs and if you want to join, then join.

It just hit me, Es -- Oprah! We have to write to Oprah!

Oh, wouldn't you just love an episode with Dr. Phil & Oprah tag-teaming the Org.? Can you imagine how great it would be, watching them "getting real" with brain-washed dubs in denial about what their loved ones have been through?

I work at a TV station that airs the Oprah show, and despite what some of its detractors say about it, it is definitely a huge cut above all the other talk shows on the tube. And Oprah has some serious media power. Write to her! I'm gonna at work tomorrow.
