foxy and i were married this sunday in a small ceremony before family & friends.

An observation: we hired a Justice of the Peace more or less at random from the phone book. The man couldn't have spent more than an hour with us total, including time on the phone. Yet the ceremony was more intimate and personal than many, many Witness ceremonies I've been to, where the elder performing it has known the couple for many years, sometimes all their lives.

Of course, our ceremony was actually about us getting married, and not a conversion sermon or "timely reminder" for those who attended. For one thing, we wrote and read our own vows, which went well and was pretty cool. Both of us mentioned our due-any-day-now daughter, who kicked throughout the ceremony. And the JP actually spoke for about 10 minutes or so, weaving a light discourse on marriage and love through the exchanging of the rings, reciting of vows, etc. (Nothing about "rendering the marriage due," ha ha! And nothing about woman being a helpmate to man. And nothing about Adam and freaking Eve!)

Anyway, Foxy kept her own last name. I didn't see any good reason for her to change it, and neither did she.

So that's my news ... will post baby pictures when the time comes.

an interesting situation happened to me yesterday.

i used to work for a company that employed about 30+ jw's of.

i always kept in touch with the non-jw co-workers, and when i left, i began sending.

I was deeply disturbed to notice your bold and flagrant use of an emoticon in your e-mail to me. The symbol '':o('', which I am loath to even copy, is obviously in imitation of an ancient Egyptian symbol used in pagan death rituals. Were you not paying attention to the fine spiritual food at the last special assembly day? Sure, some may argue that these so-called ''emoticons'' are just friendly ways of conveying emotion in an otherwise dull text message, but that's exactly what Satan, the ever cunning deceiver, wants us to think! I suggest you increase your meeting attendance and participation in order to stay alert to these timely warnings given through the FDS.

14 Minutes and you are not a Servant of Jehovah

last night we were discussing the "new light" that was revealed to the gb recently from jehovah.

many of us recall all the co talks and elder parts based on the bible text of how a true servant of jah would not be "inactive or irregular" for years one was required to have at least one hour to be considered a servant of jah.. as the sec in my hall i recall so many times calling up friends to get thier time and hearing them break crying cause they didn't have 60min only about 45min- and they knew that it meant they were not servants of jah.

now with the new light from jw a person with only 14 minutes of time will now be disqualified as being a servant of jah.. it is amazing how many jw will view this arrangement as a "loving provision from jah" instead of realizing that thier service to thier god has been reduced to whether they get 15min or 14 min.

Having Children Inside vs Outside The Organizatio

i feel cheated because i wouldnt know what its like to experience pregnancy and the birth of my children the way it was meant to be.. a completely natural and joyous event in human life was sabotaged by this religion!.

im sure there are others who know what i mean.. i would be interested to hear stories of others who have had children both inside and out of this organization.. i would like to explain what i mean.. i was raised as a witness and was always expected to be an example.

from as far back as i can remember we were taught that armageddon was just around the corner.

Having babies is fun! Especially if you're a guy -- just sit back and watch.

Not really, of course. While Foxy gets rounder and rounder, I'm tapping into my primal, masculine urge to build stuff. Home Depot is my new favorite store! I've assembled a few items, but next I want to build a little bookcase, on my own. Oh, and this weekend I painted the baby room. Pale lavender and yellow.

Ranchette, your story is freakishly surreal. And they say it isn't a cult.

Love the headline on page one: "Are You Applying What You Learned at the 'Teachers of God's Word' District Convention?"

Nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, nag!

Love the first line, too:

"Anyone who attended this year's District Convention could see that Jehovah's people are intent on fulfilling their commission to be teachers of God's Word."

I've been at my fair share of conventions, and what I've seen in recent years is that many of "Jehovah's people" use the District Convention as an opportunity to catch up on some much-needed sleep!

For Any JW Who Doubts The WT/ UN Connection

we've all seen the scathing things wt has printed about the un over the years but in the last few yrs there has been a change in tone when they speak of the un at times.below i provide an example of this courtesy of dec 8,2000awake.. i made some quotes bold print.as you read notice the complimentary tone and the spots where un photos appear.those were probably obtained as a perk with their membership.. ask your self,is this any way to speak of the scarlet colored wild beast?
