What proof is there that the JWs were chosen by Jehovah to be His people?
by VM44 inwhat proof is there that the jws were chosen by jehovah to be a "people for his name"?
growth in numbers is not proof, other religions also have displayed such growth over the last 100 years.. material prosperity is not proof as other religions also have considerable wealth, both in cash, property and real estate.. printing the watchtower and awake!
magazines certainly is not proof!.

Their silence could not be more deafening. -

Be careful about selecting leaders...
We may find ourselves being selective of our followers.

Judicial committees - Scriptural basis?
by Zico ini just found an interesting statement in a watchtower article that is going to be studied soon.
although not the theme of the watchtower (which is why we should attend their meetings) i wondered if this was a subtle attempt to make a response to the argument that there is no scriptural basis for judicial committee meetings.. .
november 1st 2006 watchtower, pg 28, para 5.

No, there is no scriptural basis for a judical comittee, otherwise Jesus would have outlined the process for an appeals comittee, during which you can be denied reinstatement into the congregation at the mere whim of the elders.
If the watchtower is telling the truth and they are God's chosen people, than you would think their judical system would be at the very least superior to the "worldly" courts. But all they do are show trials. More often than not, they've already made up their mind about the person's fate before the meeting has even begun.
If they were really so righteous, they would disfellowship their leaders for over 130 years of gross apostasy and crimes against humanity

Got my copies of August and September Awakes today! Funny and sad story.
by hubert ini was in my truck in town and talking with my sis-in-law whom i met on a side street, and while we were discussing something, she noticed a group of 4 people, 2 women, and two girls, walking up and down the other side of the street, then they got in their car, and stayed there.
so, when she left, i pulled right up next to them, and asked them if they happened to be j.w.'s?
the driver gave me a huge smile, and said, "yes, we are!

Hubert: have you seen the latest info about the blood issue? Maybe you were right and your article was the beginning of a reversal of the policy?

How Do You Read The Bible?
by Anitar ini wanted to get your opinions on the bible, particularly the differences between the old and new testament.
now, i am not a biblical scholar, and i don't presume to possess more knowledge than anyone else, i would just like to hear what everyone else believes.
so, if you don't mind answering a few questions:.

Welcome Santisimo! May I ask how you came to be here? Have you had any experience with jehovah's witnesses?

What proof is there? It doesn't need proof.
Recall, if you can, the first law of metaphysics:
Nothing unreal exists.
Essentially, the watchtower is telling the truth because they say they are telling the truth.
It's every bit as real to them as this religion:

It probably has just about the same amount of legitimacy too.

RedPill: Just wanted to welcome you to the board. Thank you for the story. Even with everything I know about the watchtower, that was still the creepiest thing I ever read. Sometimes the most disturbing stories come from the rank and file, like that neo nazi. I wish my mom had heard something like that and had a reaction like yours, but something tells me she wouldn't have noticed his implications...

You know what's funny, 50 or 60 years ago, they would have denied the very existence of cells and hemoglobin and would be calling the scientists satanic. The average rank and file died believing the teachings of their precious watchtower back then. How do you think this would make them feel if they could see this now? Do the self-righteous windbags at Bethel care about the families that were torn apart, or even remember them for that matter? Of course not.
And yet the rank and file keep swallowing the lies, and the watchtower beast charges on.
Well, not everyone believes it. Just take a look around here. Every one of us is a living testament to the power truth through knowledge, and we can use that power to change the world.
Peace everyone,

So I see it's been a few days and nobody's responded. What did everyone think of the elections?
