HERE'S A BOMBSHELL ABOUT THE 144,000 DOCTRINE......

just when you think you've heard it all............in my research for my project, i was doing some digging around on the subject of the 144,000 and came across something in the wts's literature that absolutely stunned me and, being the generous soul that i am , wanted to pass it on to you to get your thoughts on this.. .

we all know that the society teaches that the 144,000 mentioned in revelation is speaking of "spiritual israel" and not 'fleshly israel' or even other christians in general right?

there are countless quotes throughout the literature that we are all familiar with that specifically state this, but to drive home a point, here are a few:.

Excellent post Mary. Yrs ago I remember when I was told that Russell thought up the 144,000 as a literal number and all JWs were annointed and expected to go to heaven within Russell's lifetime. Well guess what, more were becoming JWs, exceeding that number..oh, doctrine change to say all the ones becoming JWs are a lower class, earthly, and have to do all the preaching work.

This religion has had a very good run for way too long. I think the persons hanging on to the JW religion, with their endless explanations of the annointed, and so forth, are just hopelessly brainwashed.

Then on top of that, the JWs make it a disfellowshipping offense to read "apostate" material. Its like an employee pointing out an error in a document written by his/her boss. In most, normal situations, the error would be corrected, and the employee would not be fired or labeled "disloyal" or a traitor to the company.

Sorry, but I just think JWs are insane.

13. Another way in which we pursue love is by being forgiving, not nursing grudges against our brothers. (Read 1 John 4:20.) Rather, we want to follow this inspired counsel: "Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Even as Jehovah freely forgave you, so do you also." (Col. 3:13) Is there someone in the congregation toward whom you could apply this counsel? Will you forgive him or her?

I love this paragraph from the WA. Right, it is to the Society's benefit that you not nurse grudges, that you forgive. Yes, forgive the society for yrs of false prophesy, telling people to die instead of taking blood or blood products, telling people to live in poverty by avoiding an education and walking door to door as a slave to a book publishing company! The Society has gotten RICH off the above paragraph...just forget their history!! Forget 1975.

Some people do NOT deserve forgiveness...the faithful and discreet slave class should NOT be forgiven.

I started reading Blondie's comments a few years back, and I felt it was validation for what I was thinking during the Watchtower studies at the KH. Her reviews have been a major positive influence and helped me to have courage to walk away from the JW religion. I was forced into the JW cult as a child, I never thought other people felt the same way I did, Blondie's study articles and this dicussion board has given me tremendous support.

I'm glad this topic was brought up as I never thought about it. We normally would have about 10 people walking door to door on a Saturday morning for two hours working house-over-house. The Society would get a report of 20 hrs for that day when in fact it is only two hours in field service reported by 10 people...this extends to bible studies, those sitting in can count their time...just amazing what this church gets away with, there skewed statistics makes them sound bigger and better than they are.

So a person can't be a doctor or artist and tell people about God? This article gives no information of exactly how walking door to door and sitting for hours in a kingdom hall is a fulfilling life? And we should live our life so as to have a good eulogy?? I thought JWs don't need to worry about death?

I don't know, but this article is a horrible advertisement for being a JW.

I have learned so much reading these messages than sitting in any kingdom hall for the past 30 yrs!! It is clear the "new" religion was Christianity, followers of Christ.

Jehovah (or variations) was used by the jews, the Christ put and end to the Jewish system, he said you are to call God "the father", that's it.

End of story - as was expertly brought out on this topic here on these message boards, Jesus had two major opportunities to let Jehovah's name be known, he didn't. It was God or Father....

Just makes me furious that no JW sitting in a kingdom hall will critically think about that August WT article, and see the JWs have no scriptual basis - they choose to worship the jewish god Jehovah and ignore Jesus.

i grew up a witness and i never felt bad about my lack of material belongings a.k.a.

not having nice clothes in school, it didn't bother me that the other first graders were stuffing their faces with birthday cupcakes and i was in the school library researching fossils; but what did bother me?

My "worldly" relatives are very successful. More than one have been happily married for many years, have wonderful children, going to college, so forth. I feel like a total outsider and loser next to my relatives. I am also embarrassed to have preached to them yrs ago. Now I'm out of the JW cult and trying to cope with all the lies I have been taught since childhood from the cult.

Frankly it bothered me greatly having no material things while in school, a mother that refused to help support us, a father that was never home, all for the good of the JW church. It bothered me greatly to lose friends going off to college while I sat home with a minimum wage job with most of my salary going to dear old mom laying on the couch.

I don't get JWs at my door. Evidently if you live in a gated community, your house can just burn and no JW will warn you. Uh, what happened to their urgent message to be heard by everyone? I've received no phone messages, nor mail.

Maybe someone can ask a JW at their door if they know their religion was founded by a MAN who based 1914 on the pyramids of Egypt.

I grew up in that cult, and they truly are hypnotized to the point where any questioning of their religion leaves them shaken and they race back to the KH as soon as possible or be destroyed by Jah himself.

Taking apart the Memorial

a new poster inspired me to take a look at the memorial talk and the way that the witnesses honor (dishonor) jesus' memory.

i had mentioned that the form is, from this christian's point of view, an abomination.

the participant is encouraged to look and not partake.

I find this topic very interesting and I am still digesting the info - but in my opinion the JWs memorial was strictly a corporate decision. I think maybe us out here are trying to explain JW doctrine when in fact they are all about the money and membership. I think (we) give the JWs way too much credit. They are just a bunch of money hungry men preserving their posh lifestyle in the East.

I read that years ago the group of annointed got tired of the same small group meeting once a year for the passover meal. So they invited the "great crowd" to WATCH them partake. It resulted in more donations, and a valuable recruiting effort because of the memorial talk.

I just think JWs need to see what their religion is - it is just another corporate entity wheeling and dealing for money, tax free real estate, and scamming innocent people out of their hard earned money.

Other religions seem to accept all people who want to believe in Christ and be taught the bible. I always remembered enjoying the Catholic services as a child until my parents changed over to JW and the torture of us kids began and the isolation from other people.

i have spoken to a number of jws since the annoucement was made about the private book study group being eliminated from jan 2009.. .

the governing body were fully aware that writing "satan is angrier than ever" as the opening sentence of the letter, jehovah's witnesses would put 2 and 2 together and make 5.. .

they were counting on this.

Another person here on the message boards had the same thought, and I totally agree. I think it was a total deflection from the fact they were and are WRONG about the term "generation". This is not new light, nor does the GB have a clue of what they are talking about. But they are deceitful and manipulators and evil. I totally agree that's why the special announcement about the book study, plus it was done on a Sunday, again, to make people forget the prior WA study on the generation change.
