I remember watching a documentary about Jim Jones many years ago. There was an interview with some of the survivors who said they joined after seeing the incredible racial unity among the members. In fact, they were famous for it. If Greg Stafford had paid a visit to Jonestown, do you think it would have convinced him that Jim taught the Truth?

Bizarre November 2006 KM
by yakata inthe insert is called "how do i view blood fractions and medical procedures involving my own blood?
" i will attempt to transcribe the more salient points for everyone here.. paragraph 1 (verbatim): the bible commands christians to "abstain ... from blood.
" (acts 15:20) thus, jehovah's witnesses do not accept transfusions of whole blood or the four primary components of blood-namely, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma.

Wow. Very interesting. I'm looking forward to studying this in November. (And it's not often I look forward to any JW-related activities now) I've just decided to make this my next major area of research into Society flaws. I've been doing research into the child protection policies recently - It's a disgusting religion. Did Ray Franz ever say anything about blood in his books? (I can't get them in a JW house, can only read the scans - I'll buy them when I move out) How old are these conscience policies? Would he have been there? How can they justify them?

Creation/evolution debate - an interesting analogy
by dmouse in- from the institute for stork research and science.
two different theories exist concerning the origin of children: the theory of sexual reproduction, and the theory of the stork.
many people believe in the theory of sexual reproduction because they have been taught this theory at school.

Why do you find it interesting?
Evolution IS a theory. Sexual reproduction IS NOT. -

Wikipedia being abused by Jehovahs Witnesses
by Simon ini had a look at the wikipedia entry for jehovahs witnesses yesterday and noticed that it wasn't as comprehensive as it once was.. most links to non-pro-jw sites have gone as is anything truly critical or exposing of their beliefs and practices.. last night i added a link to this site to the "other sources" section.
this morning it is gone.. i wonder whether this is some private zealot who has decided to do it or an organised campaign?.

But what if they're right............still the Truth?
by ScoobySnax inthis will probably apply to few here, but to me it'll always be that way.
it's the what if syndrome maybe, but it's always there.
i still think that as a core belief system the jw's have it right, even if their delivery isn't always right.

Hi youngone, and welcome to the forum.
If you're really happy in the JW Organisation than that is good for you! The JW view however, that everybody outside of their religion is unhappy, is completely wrong, there are plenty of Ex-JWs who are having happy fulfilling lives.
I'm sure everyone here would like to live forever on a Paradise Earth. However, we believe the Society does not teach the Truth, and so we do not see the need in dedicating our life in what we believe would just be chasing an empty promise.
We do have VERY good reasons to believe this is not the Truth. For example, did you know that the 607 date the Organisation uses to get to 1914 is an incorrect date? I suggest you read: www.607v587.com.
Also, have a look through the Best of section on this site to see the many other issues we have.
If you're going to dedicate your life to an Organisation, you owe it to yourself to research it from both points of view. If this Organisation truly has the Truth, it will stand up to your honest scrutiny.
Stick around a bit youngone, find out a bit more about what we're all about, you'll be surprised by what you learn. -

The bastards have marked me!
by Zico inso, i'd been invited to a jw 'friends' house this evening, but before i went, i went out with some work mates, something i've been doing a bit more of recently.
i told him i'd be home about 7.30 and for him to phone me after that time when he wants me to come round, so i get back about that time, popped onto jwd, whilst awaiting my phone call, got nothing, so i phoned him up a few minutes ago, and he told me that he'd discussed it with the others, and since i've been going out with worldly people so much, they want me to stop that association before they let me start associating with them again!
i'm really fucking angry here now!
-
Zico
Ok, I've calmed down quite a bit now.
Katiekitten - Yes, you're pretty much right. Though I don't believe the marking has anything to do with swearing and reading apostate boards. They don't know I read apostate sites, and I never swear, since I've been brought up not too.
I was very angry when I wrote that post, and my swearing was a bit of out of character... Swearing breaks the board rules, and I shouldn't have done that. I have tried to edit the swearing out of the post, but it doesn't seem to be working, I think because I'm posting from an Apple Mac? If the Mods want to edit or delete this thread, they are within their rights to do so, I will not complain.
I've only started associating with Worldly people since I started fading a few months ago. Apparently, they've almost instantly changed the way they look at me!
I shouldn't be so upset, because I AM going to leave this religion, but I want to fade out because EVERY ONE of my family member's is in the Organisation, so I don't want to DA, or be DF'D, and part of doing this fading has been to build a support network of Worldly friends, which is the advice I was given by this board. And is good advice! I'm not strong enough to leave with nothing and nobody.
The JW who uninvited me, is in my group, he phoned me up shortly after, and asked if I would work with him on Field Service tomorrow as he wants 'to talk'. I stayed calm, and then told him I would, I planned to give him a piece of my mind, but then I realised that would be a stupid thing to do at all, let alone on the Field Service, I'm just going to have to let it go, so I'm going to fake sickness tomorrow morning. I can't give in though, if I give in, it will drag me back in deeper.
It's now more upsetting than annoying, because I thought I'd been fading so well! I managed to finish pioneering and get a full time job without any JWs, I've gotten away with going to less meetings, and I've started to associate with 'worldly' people. I guess I got too arrogant, I was fading too fast, clearly they've noticed, and now they're going to want to help me, and I have no idea what to do about it... I don't want to be dragged back in, and it's not like I tell this guy that I'm having doubts, he's proved I can't trust him.
Even after I successfully leave this religion (And I WILL, despite this setback) I hope I can still keep in contact with some of my JW friends, I have after all grown up with these people, and I don't want to lose them. I don't know yet how many agreed with the JW who told me they wouldn't associate with them anymore, though I'm sure I'll find out soon.
I think I know what will happen with these JW 'friends; when I leave now, but whatever does happen is going to be entirely up to them. -

I'd read of things like this happening to other people, but I thought 'No, not my friends, they won't do that' How wrong I was, I should have learned from the others on this board, why am I so stupid? They've back-stabbed me! And I thought if I ever get DF'd for apostasy 'Maybe they won't shun me?' But now I know, now I know what they're really like.
Their love is so conditional, they'll just betray anyone who doesn't completely follow their stupid fucking rules. BASTARDS!!!! -

Did You Ever "Report" Someone (Or Yourself) To The Elders???
by minimus inever snitch on anyone??
?

Zico
I saw an unbaptised JW smoking once. I told him he should turn himself in, but he never did. I wasn't actually going to turn him in, but I did tell another JW who told his elder father, who then met with me, so I felt forced into it.
The unbaptised smoker had already been seen by several Witnesses, but had promised he'd stop, so after I seen him, he was spoken too again, but he only got spoken too, as he was unbaptised. His father was an elder though, and he was DELETED because of his son's smoking, but I didn't care much because he was an idiot anyway, and he was trying to help our power mad Secretary become PO.
His son has left now, he was never baptised. To this day his father insists that me and all the other Witnesses who seen him smoking were lying. He says his son would have stayed in if we hadn't forced him out with our lies!
I think the kid was just using it as an excuse, fair enough though, and if it really did force him out, then I think I did him a favour! -

Were you afraid of what they thought about you in the Kingdom Hall?

throughout my tenure as one of jehovah's witnesses, i could not help notice how individuals.
became so conscious of what others thought about them.
