  Do you know of any JW's elders that turned in another JW's elder?

  do jw's elders report other elders for wrongdoing or do they sweep it under the carpet?

  i remember there was a elder in my old cong that did not like another elder.

  he would always bad-mouth this particular elder in field service.

  There's no hard and fast rule of thumb that they follow on this issue.

  Some elder bodies are fairly well integrated and united, and elder's kids are judged less harshly and get more priveleges than others.

  Other elder bodies are bitterly divided and full of rivalries and hatreds, and would sell each other out for 30 pieces of silver.

  Just like any other human enterprise, there is infinite variation and it's dependent on the vagaries of human relationships and imperfections--this is why it's ridiculous to submit yourself to other imperfect humans in a religious context.

  What's the JW take on the medical condition Gender Identity Disorder?

  hi from the uk.

  here the national health service (nhs) says that gender identity disorder (gid) aka transexualism can be effectively treated by hormones and surgery so people can live as the gender they 'know' themselves to be.

  however, i'm told that despite the condition being medically recognised that jw believe it is a 'lifestyle choice' (presumably like 'choosing' to be straight or gay as we all do :-) ) and one worthy of disfellowshipping.

  I do not believe that most transgendered individuals would consider their lives as being dominated by a "medical condition" but rather a genetic predisposition. Not a sickness, but an identity.

  That being said, yes, the JW "take" is that it, similar to how they regard homosexuality, may indeed by a genetic predisposition, but nevertheless should not be "indulged," any more than pedophilia, also a genetic predisposition, should be.

  I do not state my own opinion, but that of the Society, as reinforced within the last few months in the Theocratic Ministry School as a student talk, of all things.

  man i wanted a gibbon so much after reading that article......i musta been about 10 or so....i so wanted to hear the patter of the feet just like the article described it.

  thinking back on it now....who the heck would keep a pet gibbon anyway?

  I know someone whos congregation Prince once attended, in Hollywood. It's not his regular hall. Prince's PO called ahead to the congregation in Hollywood's PO to let him know that Prince was coming.

  Prince shows up in a limo right as the meeting is starting--he doesn't "associate" or anything. He is accompanied by two very burly security guards, non-Witnesses, who sit next to him in seats in the back of the hall which were reserved for him by the local PO, taking up an entire row for himself. He never comments during the Watchtower study, though my informer tells me that a semi-senile elderly long-time pioneer brother got some extra magazines and made Prince's bodyguards take them during the Watchtower study, since they didnt' have their own.

  When it's over, Prince dashes out immediately after the closing prayer.

  I swear I am not making this up.

  are you dependent on the internet?

  how bad would you be or feel if you suddenly lost your internet connection?

  i use it for work, to talk with people through skype, download music and films, e-mail, forums, and instant messengers, and finding info of all sorts.

  My 19" LCD has a 4ms refresh rate. Trust me, you wouldn't want to go back to your CRT if you gamed on it for a couple of hours.

  ok i don't bother much about celebrities and all this craziness about couples getting together and breaking up is more than likely media blown out of proportion but..... tom cruise and katie holmes .... something here really doesn't feel right to me.. we have older man vs young woman.

  clearly a man who has no problem making a spectacle of himself - jumping on the furniture on international tv - she seemed rather shy and subdued.

  a man who has no problem voicing his religious beliefs as if he and he alone has the ultimate truth of matters - she not so experienced so follows his beliefs (according to the media).

  Lady Lee, do you have a link to a story about her "going home?" That would be great news to read. I hope she also pooped in his Cheerios before she left. I hope she can get the baby back, but I wouldn't be surprised if the infant is abducted by the Sea Org and ends up on a boat somewhere.

  Totally dependent for everyday living. I do mean EVERYTHING. Not addicted, I mean I can go camping or on vacation without my computer, or whatever, but it has become a primary tool of my life.

  I have long believed that she was just Tom's broodmare. It's digusting, the way he's manipulated her. I cannot--CANNOT--imagine him keeping many fans if that turns out to be true.
