  Has anyone else been referred to as a "New Wave Apostate"

  one of my friends parents referred to us (my sweetie and i) as "new wave" apostates.

  has anyone else heard this term, been referred to as one?

  i was just wondering if this is a new attempt to squash critical thinking?

  Did they say anything about what they actually meant? What were they getting at as the different between the old-style apostates and yourselves?

  What if? Works and no faith?

  i was wondering, as i see all you under-the-radar-apostates-at-heart who still go along as jw's what the wt and elders would say about a person who didn't say anything about the org, went along with it, was a publisher, did the studies, went to the meetings, and did all they are 'supposed to do', but didn't buy a word of it?

  for the same reason that many of you do, without speaking out about it, just keeping all the doubts, anger etc inside.

  would you be saved at armageddon in their view?

  Nope, we'll get brutally butchered, by their ancient tribal war god. Our eyes and "fleshy parts" will eaten by birds, and our bones will be interred in mass graves, just like the rest of the wicked ones who dared to stand against YHWH.
  It's faith AND works. You can't have just faith, or just works--you'll be murdered by God.

  Materialised demons... why not?

  acctualy i don't believe in demons anymore.

  but the recent bible teach study caused me to wonder... why does the society think that the demons are not capable of making bodies for themselves anymore, there was no support scripture so i looked it up on the wt library:.

  in 1953 there was a questions from readers about why they posess people and animals... they simply stated without any proof that they are incapable of making bodies anymore.. then in 1955 they offer a scripture.. *** w55 10/1 p. 594 par.

  You're right of course parakeet. I mostly was referring to non-Witnesses reading that stuff. I can't even imagine trying to conduct a study with a reasonably intelligent person on that stuff--a non-starter.
  In almost all of Africa, much of South America, certain immigrant populations throughout the Western world, and parts of Asia, the spirit world is a complete reality. There are witch doctors. People can be burned because they are witches and put a curse on people. I think those are the people the spiritism discussions are there for, mostly. It might convince Western Witnesses that demons exist, but it's mostly there for others.
  Too bad it doesn't free them from superstition--it just swaps one set of spiritism and ritual belief for another, doesn't it?

  our view of life on planet earth (not to mention elsewhere) is framed inside a rectangle of voyeurism.

  As America flatulently waddles off to its bitter end (likely from high blood pressure and cardiac arrest rather than foul play), the question that needs to be answered is: what next? When the world has no superpowers, what next? When the metanational corporation you work for is more important than and performs many of the functions that used to be in the provenance of government, what next? Will mission statements replace vision? Will capitalism replace feudalism?
  Only time will tell.

  Sorry to be the first downer.
  Everything is pretty bad right now. My wife discovered my online activities, and is heartbroken and upset every day now. She has in turn outed me to several close friends and family members, and I suspect it's only a matter of time before it gets to the elders.
  In the meantime I'm trying to go through the Witness motions, to try and keep my friends and family and try to convince as many of them as possible that it's all a crock. I have to go to meetings and listen to idiots comment and pontificate on subjects that are difficult for people three times smarter than them to understand. Last Sunday we learned about how murmuring against the organization is bad. The Book Study this week was all about spiritism. Soon, we'll start on the Revelation Climax book.
  So, yeah, things are pretty much shit right now.
  Glad to hear you're doing good, though.

  Why no e-mail and PDF?

  i am new to the group, so i apologize in advance if this has been discussed.. i study comparitive religion, so my query is not so much anti-jw as it trying to understand.. on the jw site - both watchtower and jw-media, no jw magazines, brochures (save for some fact sheets from jw media) are available in pdf.

  comparitively to other religions, they're more than happy to offer pdf brochures, magazines, tracts, etc., to get the word out.

  moreover, there is no e-mail contact whatsoever - they are implicite that they don't repond to e-mail - except for the "want to learn more" page, presumably for recruitment.. i assume this is a thoughtout premeditated strategy related to distribution or containment, rather than simply not embracing technology.

  JamesBrian, welcome to the board.
  The email thing is interesting--most likely the correctly realize that the mailbox would just be inundated with spam, idiots, and rabid ex-JW's with nothing for them to respond to, sincerely interested ones who would be better served by face to face contact (and there are a million Witnesses in the US who'd love to provide that) and current Witnesses with doctrinal points. And then there's the question of the credibility of responses--if you got an email from the Society waxing philosophic on Zipporah and her evil knife, for example, you'd never know for sure that it was legit.
  As far as PDF goes I highly doubt anybody in Brooklyn who is in a position to do something about it has any idea what it is or that it even exists. Remember this is the same organization that is still referring to all apostate presence everywhere on the internet as "apostate chat rooms."

  i heard a woman from the rochester, michigan congregation has died by obstetric hemorrhage after delivery of her first child.. this is all that was relayed to me.. so heartbreaking

  i have not been an active witness active for several years now.

  so are the women still being forced to wear skirts and dresses still?

  i really think that the whole dress thing has been for some time now very outdated.

  Several years ago a CO visiting our hall mentioned how his wife used to wear culottes out in service, until a delegation of brothers in one of the halls he oversaw approached him saying that his wife's "trousers" were stumbling some of the "friends." Off went the culottes.

  The stuff about spiritism is mostly there, in my opinion, for potential Witnesses in third-world countries. Most Western audiences look at that stuff with bemusement.
  Though Brother Bland in my hall, an elder, did comment during that study that corded friendship bracelets and corded belts are spiritistic in origin and shouldn't be used by Witnesses, lest they invite demons.
