Good question. I don't visit other sites as much as Free Minds and this forum. My wife isn't at all interested to revisit them, it's totally behind her now. For me it's something I think I will always be interested in. Sick huh?

I thought slide 27 of the Feat of Clay piece to be particularly interesting. In short, based on astronimical measurements there's a difference referred to in Sky Software of some 9 minutes back in 567 BCE. So much for the WTS stance that archeological information being inaccruate (in defence of 607 vs 587as the fall of Jerusalem). If measurements in the same era are off just 9 minutes, any claims to substantial inaccuracies (eg 20 years) is highly bogus.

Something just dawned on me after reading your paraphrasing of the article (thank you) Blondie and that's this. I don't recall the last time anyone has been unkind to me in this "so-called" Satan's world. The last time I felt some level of unkindness was with the former brethren.

Mormon's rent Kingdom Hall

That's really weird. My Mormon/KH story is quite different. Many years ago, while we we Borg, my son had a friend whose Dad was the bishop of the local LDS ward at that time. Dan's friend was a nice little kid, there weren't a lot of choices for local pals and me being liberal, even then, it was fine. We were going to do a remodel of the KH and I asked the LDS bishop if their church, about 200 yds away was connected to the city sewer system. It was, they had dug the 1/4 mile to get connected themselves. I asked if we could connect to them. Fine was the response. The Estacada Oregon KH was on a septic tank. and still is. I told our PO this and he steamed back "we will have nothing to do with those people". And that was that.

How did you get out of field service?
by Mulan inwhen i was a kid, we had the meeting for service at our house on saturdays.
i would seem to be getting ready in my room and when mom went into the living room, i would run into her bathroom and get in the shower.
i had long hair, and no hairdryers in those days.

I had return visits all across the rural area I lived so that was my "field service" for a couple of years from 95 (post the generation change) to 1998 when we finally left. We spent a lot in gas tho'. I don't think I even talked about the magazines, the RVs were mainly old folk lonely for someone to talk to.

Although they would never talk about the DF'd they still used their writings for years. Ray Franz and Ed Dunlap in particular (someone correct me if I'm worng) Franz was the key author of the Aid book and Dunlap wrote the Commentary on James.

Ex-elders: did you ever confront anyone on FAKE HOURS
by Quotes ina few recent threads have been about faking hours in field service reports (for example, this one: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/72429/1.ashx).
a number of posters said they would never actually go in service, but still magically get in their hours each month.
my question to you ex-elders: did you ever confront someone on this?

Oh dear, I'm bad. When I was a book study conductor I had to phone around for hours of those that didn't fill in their reports at month end. I recall talking a couple of people into logging an hour or two since I thought they must have talked to someone about the "truth" in a month.

Reverse nepotism?
As I recall if you had the last name Phipps in our part of the world you'd never "make" ministerial servant from about '84 onwards.
