by candidlynuts ina comment from a family member about an elder who quit attending meetings the other day was " oh they dont attend anymore, i dont think they're df'd but its known they started their own church".
ok so i didnt think much about it..other than it doesnt seem the sort of thing this fella would ever do.. .
but..today i read a story on freeminds ( will look for the link in a bit and will post it).

Well, I guess I started my own church. I'm a ULC pastor and registered to officiate weddings in Oregon, which I do at no charge. There was a thread on ULC members among XJW's and there's at least 20 of us. I don't know if the Estacada congo knew that. I never did get df'd. I did get accused of "going crazy then apostate" though.

So that's why I felt so crappy last week and I thought it was a case of the brown bottle flu that I picked up at Rogue Brewing in Newport Oregon!
Evidently this was an invisible nuclear strike, which makes sense as nuclei are invisible.
I guess we must all be on the paradise earth now. It doesn't seem any different, does it?

Venting about the World Cup 2006
by fullofdoubtnow inis anyone else as fed up with all the hype as i am?
i know dedpoet isn't - he can't wait for it to start, and if he could have got tickets, he would be flying out to germany to watch it.
instead of that, he is planning to watch every england match in his local pub.

The problem (and blessing) of living far away on the left coast of these United States is that there's nothing much being said about the World Cup at all. Even though soccer/football has caught on in schools and the country does field a great womens team, and a fair mens team, the average Oregonian doesn't really give a shit about it. As an ex-pat Brit (and former West Ham supporter) I am inclined to think about it periodically, but the only reason that the subject will ever come up is that my business partner (an ex-pat Aston Villa supporter) will watch every game he can. So that's when I will know it's on.

I never seem to be able to cut and paste stuff. Here it goes again.
http://www.virushead.net/jwhumor.html
- If you think that service to God can be measured in hours, you might be a JW.
- If you see no problem with arguing that a loving god would never create a hell, while at the same time promoting the idea that this same god is about to kill all non-JW human beings in a fair judgment, you are a JW.
- If you feel that it is ethical behavior to shun (rather than counsel) people in your religious group who have committed a sin, you may be a JW.
- If you think the name "Jehovah" appeared in the original writings of the Greek Scriptures, you are a JW.
- If a biblical statement outright disagrees with what is taught in the Watchtower - but you believe the Watchtower is correct, you are most probably a JW.
- If you think demons choose to reside in jewelry, furniture, china, books or blue smurfs, you might be a JW.
- If your reaction to someone wearing a cross is the same as a vampire's, you might be a JW.
- If you can't pick up anything to read without also picking up something to underline or highlight with, you might be a JW.
- If you've spent days at a baseball stadium and never saw a ball or drank a beer, you might be a JW.
- If you're always afraid someone might see and hear you when you're finally just being "normal", you might be a JW.
- If you can have a Bible study without a Bible, you might be a JW.
- If the thought of entering a Christian bookstore sends shivers up and down your spine, you might be a JW.
- If you see the title of "All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix and you feel spiritually refreshed, but afraid to listen to the song, you might be a JW.
- If you think (or used to think) that 1975 was a significant year in an apocalyptic timeline, you are probably a former JW.
- If you think you, on your own, misinterpreted or imagined the year 1975 as the year the end would come, thereby absorbing all responsibility away from the Watch Tower Society, you are a JW in good standing.
- If you think that a door slamming shut is actually a form of persecution against the righteous, you might be a JW.
- If you think the "New World Translation" is the least biased and most accurate translation of the Hebrew and Greek books known collectively as the Bible, you are most likely a JW.
- If you think "The Finished Mystery" which was released in 1917 was "meat in due season", you might be a JW (who has obviously never read the book).
- If you believe that New Light that becomes Old Light and then becomes New Light again is God's way of doing things, you are a JW.
- If the Watch Tower Society used to preach a certain teaching years ago and you deny they ever did, you are a good JW.

Do Individual JWs Pay For The Publications They Distribute?
by Joe Grundy inexcuse my ignorance, and i've read on boards about the us not selling/inviting contributions issue, but do individuals jws in effect pay for the publications they give out?
if so, is that only for their magazines or for hardback books as well?
how is this organised, please?.

When I was Borg, at the time of New Light of Donations (aka skipping sales taxes), I was the accounts servant in my congo. I remember calculating, and presenting in a service meeting part, that based on usage the congregation was returning only 60% to the WTS compared to when it was directly purchased by the publishers.
Don't know what that ratio is now.
