  When you were a JW true believer, what were you most afraid of?

  it's been pretty well established that all religions use fear as a motivator, to some degree.

  the jw's have honed this practice to a near art form.

  DEMONS!!!!

  I remember reading a "contributed life story" in a 1986 awake! entitled "the demons controlled me" and being so terrified. Every time I heard a tree branch brush my window on a windy night I was sure it was demons rapping on the glass trying to keep me awake so I would be tired for service the next day. It was only Jehovah's spirit that kept them out and kept me free from being raped by them and giving birth to Nephilim.

  Also I was warned that homosexuals carry around needles filled with sedatives looking for young boy victims. I was more scared of demons though.

  Things JW's Say: "In the New Order, I will <insert activity here>."

  one of the most notorious things that jw's like to talk about are their expectations for the new order.

  they talk about what things will be like, the kind of activities they'll enjoy, how resurrection will work, what the "worldwide cleanup work" will entail, which houses they'll appropriate, how they'll finally be able to have the kids they've put off, and so on.

  here are some of the things i've heard witnesses say about the new order: they would personally explore the moons of jupiter for possible human colonization they would eat meat, since isaiah talks about "well oiled dishes filled with marrow" they would travel the world they would learn to play the piano they would research the "other scrolls that would be opened" they would play football (but not tackle football) they would have bible studies with newly resurrected ones they would speak hebrew (it's the language god gave adam and eve, you know, and we'll all have one language in the new order...) they would literally never feel any pain sensations ever again, even if they banged their elbow.

  One day UB... one day. One day soon in fact. When the real Barbara Streisand has fire and sulphur rained upon her head (that is of course if she isn't in New York when the buildings start crumbling... or she hides in a cave begging the mountains to fall onto her) and her fleshy parts are consumed by birds (what will be done with all these fat birds?!?! 6 billion people...).

  hello everyone... i am returning after vanishing from this place over a year.

  i don't recognize anyone, sorry :s i grew up in arnprior, ontario of canada, which is not far from ottawa, the capital city of the country (the place i live now).

  i was raised in a strict witness upbringing until i was 15, when i got loose finally.

  Greetings from the T dot. I was also raised a Witless. I left first at 18 and then became a binge and purge Witless until I finally realised that trying to keep everybody happy and living a lie was killing me and left. Things are finally looking up now. Good to hear from you!

  here are a few comments that i overheard at this week's book study (of the third chapter of the bible teach book), and the thoughts i had after hearing them: .

  conductor: "as food shortages become more and more common as the time of the end advances, they will make excellent field service points since they were predicted by the bible.

  i have "forward you witnesses" playing over and over and over and over and over in my head today.

  i am trying to sing something else but it keeps cropping up...surely there is a pill for this!

  Remember the new songs that no one knew the melodies to? It was whisper singing until the third verse. Or what about the "back up" parts in brackets? One gung ho elder tried to get just the sisters to sing it the first time and then the brothers the next. It was AWFUL.
