I agree Fleur, when by happenstance I come across a witless kid's profile and it says he/she is into death metal...

gag alert!
here's a nice little thread the jw youth have got going on myspace, in case you want to go down memory lane and remember how anti-dating they are.
complete with a comment that "worldly people have cooties" (was that one of you guys?).

you know how fond jws were of buzz words, the truth, etc.
well one thing i remember vividly is one teenager that referred to someone as being df'd while we were at a party (pronounced dee-effed) and everyone else being so confused.
the jws here never talked like that at all they always said disfellowshipped.
My elder/ELDER brother always uses the phrases J-dub, DF'd, DA'd etc...
not sure if it is the correct terminology, but i've heard of a few instances where the society had to step in and completely "delete" a congregation because of issues with incompetent elders and out of control publishers.
i've never heard specifics.
does this actually happen?
Blondie:

.
keep trying to get to your meetings remember the sister who walked 2 hours one way to feast at the spiritual banquet , or the bro who crossed crocodile infested waters to get to his meeting.. anyone remember any other guilt trip inducing illustrations?
You beat me to it Under_Believer, but in the version I heard the brother's life was spared because he knew the day's text.

Getting clothing donations from a non reputable source and having demons infiltrate bethel (my mom always warned me about shopping at second hand clothing stores).

as some may know i am a huge avid chicago cubs fan, mainly because my dad's side of the family is from that area.
where are all the cub fans?
as i wear my cub apparel out in public, i get looks like i was a dying breed.
The Jays all the way!!! We're about due for another back to back World Series win!
its not until you are out of the religion that you notice how unhappy a lot of witnesses are.
through family i still have contact with quite a few and hear of stories of whats going on.
i am like a different person now i am out.
I think the paradox is inherent in the fact that despite claiming to be "Jehovah's happy people" (isn't there even a kingdumb melody with that title?) there is guilt associated with the feeling of happiness, or contentment. To be content infers that you aren't doing enough, you are stagnant in the ministry and are dangerously close to "spiritual drifting". I really think there is an odd adrenal reaction in many witnesses to misery and martyrdom (the most devout at least), They are never so "happy" as when they are miserable. The more sickness, death, disasters, and catastrophes they encounter, the more solidified their conviction that the "end" is just around the corner. They are so caught up in Witless mentality, they find pain self-actualizing.

-> no higher education...i mean what the hell is wrong with these ppl?.
i'm 19, i'm a publisher and screw that i' am going to university!!
just finished my 2nd year.
Way to go Bluebeads!
I agree with fullofdoubtnow, no rush to get baptised, Jesus certainly wasn't baptised in his teens. You will definitely not regret this decision. Any witness I know that pursued university despite constant criticism is laughing now. One friend of mine that was racked with guilt throughout his university career now acknowledges that it was the right thing to do (and is still an active witness). I'm finally going into university after ten years of being out of high school. I grew up with the "there is no point, this system will be over before you are out of high school" mentality and as a result my grades really suffered. I'm having to make up for that now. After ten years of janitorial work (not that there is anything wrong with it... just wasn't for me) and frustration from working in jobs that I didn't find even remotely intellectually stimulating (and don't pay the bills!) I decided to re-evaluate everything and go for it. Learn from my mistakes, stick with your conviction to stay in school (and have a blast doing it!). Best of luck!
