Yes, Gumby, I remember. But it's not just the assemblies. You see the same thing as sports events, too. What always amused me about it is that a camera flash illuminates only up to 10 feet away, so taking these pictures is not only annoying, it's useless.

That's just great: yet another JW telling me what I know. It's exactly that kind of mindless browbeating (you WILL believe! you WILL believe!) that made me run away screaming from the JWs almost 30 years ago. Sorry, SMB, your sledgehammer tactics will not work here.
I think YOU should be encouraged to read some of the valid objections to JW doctrine and practice expressed in this forum. Try hard to actually think about them in an open-minded way before coming here to spout the same tired platitudes I've heard for so many years.
BTW, don't forget to add the 2 minutes it took you to write your post to your FS report. -

New method of witnessing.

i recently was at a bagel shop here in san jose,ca and while waiting i noticed something weird.at the back of the bagel shop was a little area that had one of those clear file holders,i was curious and went to investigate,to my surprise there were two issues of awake one in english and the other in an asian language.inside the awake was a copy of the watchtower.printed on the file holder was a message that basically said if you need any more information on starting that if you're interested in a bible study to call such and such number.i found this rather odd,the other curious thing is i haven't seen any witnesses in my neighborhood in almost 6 months.i guess they figured out that door to door work osn;t as effective.. craig

You are technically correct; however, I can tell you from first-hand experience that even if you are not officially DFed for being inactive, you will be the recipient of de facto shunning by most hardcore JWs. -

Jw's hypocritical view of 'Sincerity'....
by AK - Jeff inwitnesses always use this argument to provide proof of the need to 'examine one's religion'.;.
"sincerity alone will not please god, but worshipping him in 'truth' will".....yet when faced with clear wrong doctrine or chronology or misapplied scripture the common witness reply is to 'leave it in jehovah's hands and he will correct it in his due time'.
if he can correct it within the religion of jehovah's witnesses - why can't he correct the same problems within the other churches?.

WT double-speak reminds me of a scene from the musical "Chicago," where a woman discovers her boyfriend in bed with not one, but two other women. In reply to her furious outburst, he says, "Come on, doll! You gonna believe what you see or what I tell you?" Those are his last words before she shoots him.
That could be the WTS slogan: "Believe what I tell you ('Leave it in Jehovah's hands'), not what you see ('contradictions in doctrine')."

Why do elders talk to me and smile, and ordinary JW's shun me?
by JH inif i meet an ordinary jw, most of them will shun me.
if i meet an elder, they will look at me, talk to me, smile and make me feel as if i'm still a brother in good standings.. .
who's in charge here the elders or the ordinary little jw people?.

I've been inactive for almost 30 years, and it's a toss-up who will snub me and who won't. I can never figure it out. The only reason I can think of that makes any sense, however twisted, is that the elders may believe they can talk to you as a prelude to "bringing you back in" but the r&f don't have the necessary "spiritual safeguards" to talk to a possible apostate like you.
