Switzerland: The Jw against a TV show denouncing them
by chasson infrom http://www.news-service.admin.ch/nsbsubscriber/message/fr/5765 (automatic translation) .
time present on the witnesses of jehovah .
the plaintiffs estimated in particular that the presentation of the sexual abuse in the report violated the faithful principle of presentation of the events.

The translation is a bit hit-or-miss, but am I correct that the JWs objected to the program because the producers got the age of the pedophile wrong??? Talk about a red herring!

Do you have nightmares about going back?
by Mysterious inanyone else ever have nightmares where they find themselves in a kingdom hall.
i keep dreaming i came home and my mom laid out my clothes and just like a robot i put them on and go to the book study all the while thinking how it's wrong and i shouldn't be here but i can't stop myself.

When I first left, I often got nightmares about being back in the KH, sweating and panic-stricken, with everyone looking at me in that trademark JW disapproving way. The nightmares went away gradually. I haven't had one like that for at least 10 years.

Guess who just stopped by!
by drew sagan infunny how i allways read these threads about how people say the jws just stopped by and think how goofy it all is.
well, as i was sitting here at home watching amazon fishbowl with bill maher a knocking came at the door.
well wouldn't you know it was some jws from another congregation (i don't live in the territory of the cong.

Whew! It was only a bunch of clueless JWs. I thought at first it was the elders coming by to give you more grief.

How Many More Ways Can The Society Shoot Itself In The Foot???
by minimus inwhat kind of religion forces its elders to ask every imaginable question regarding sex to its congregants?
the elders are told by "mother" that they must ask specific sexual questions and decipher whether a person should be classified as meriting a judicial committee or "just" counsel from a couple of men.
who the hell do these men think they are???

The Society could shoot its foot clean off, and there will still be JWs who think it can do no wrong. If Jehovah himself appeared in luminous cloud over Brooklyn and denounced the WTS as Satan's puppet, hardcore believers will still not be convinced there's anything wrong with their darling Society.

Finally out of Hiding
by Shador inwell i finally came out and told my parents i did not believe in the wts doctrines.. for me the last straw was seeing honesty's simple clear proof of the wrongness of 607.
'course i couldn't remember all the refs last night but now i've printed them out.. told them about the ngo thing.
of course they said the "ebul 'postates" were twisting the whole thing.. my dad tried to "reason with me" thusly:.

***"End result: You KNOW this is the truth, you just don't want to live by it!"***
Shador, I hope all goes well with you. It's a hard thing to tell your parents this. I did it almost 30 years ago, and my parents still insist I KNOW it's the truth, but that I'm too stubborn/lazy/influenced-by-others to live by it. It's a hard thing that parents would rather reject you than take a hard, honest look at themselves and their religion, but that's the way of it. Best of luck to you. -

Best looking Tie
by Bookey inhowdy folks,
how many of us went to the hall trying to wear the best looking tie or the best looking suit?
i wonder, why i never wore a tie with naked ladies on it.
-
parakeet
I was a witness during the 70s, which was a fashion nightmare decade in general, but it reached its grotesque peak at the KH, where the men wore hideous polyester, double-knit, flared leg suits. Not only were the ties nauseating, they were W - I - D - E, which meant there was more to gaze upon with horror. I'm no fashionista, but even I knew bad style when I saw it.

I have been told by "born-again christians" Booker, why do you attack BACs
by booker-t inwhen i was growing up as a "devout" jw's i ran into countless of born-again christians(bacs) that would tell me i was going to hell, i was in a "cult", jw's were the "anti-christ" the wts was "satanic" and we were going to burn in the lake of fire for all eternity.
can you imagine how i felt as a jw's working at a place with 10 bacs telling me this at lunch time.
but still i would treat them nice and play cards with them and never openly judge them.

***"Booker why are you attacking us" I just can't figure this accusation out. Born-Agains did not think twice about sending be to hell when I was a JW because I did not believe in the BAC's way***
Looks like the JWs don't hold the copyright when it comes to intolerance.
***My question to posters out there is are Born-Again Christians a "controlling group" like the JW's and don't want you to have your independence?***
I think it depends on the group--there's a huge variety of belief with BACs. Some are just as controlling as the JWs; some are not. I find it ironic that the JWs I know who left the WTS to become BACs, they were the most rabid, hellfire-spittin' BACs I ever saw. They just transferred their craziness from one religion to another. -

***Parents should teach children scriptural values and provide loving discipline. They believe the Bible does not condone harsh physical punishment.***
Yet they believe Jehovah will harshly punish, i.e. exterminate, all the "wicked." I wonder if the reporter understood that she was included in that category.
I remember seeing toddlers thrashed because they couldn't sit still for 2+ hours at meetings. The most harsh punishment I witnessed was an elder who clapped his hand over his kid's mouth to prevent his screaming (and breathing) until he got him into the library and then thrashed the kid.
There are so many inaccuracies in these articles--I could go on for hours. -
