***it's just that I know I'm lacking in faith and I feel a lot of us are***
It sounds like you're having a crisis of faith, and if so, I'm sorry you're going through a difficult time in your life. If you're looking for reassurance for your faith here, you won't find it. What you will find is honesty and friendship, if you stay around long enough. Hope you do.

***Now they really don't want to be named for fear of a lawsuit.***
Maybe that's why the WTS is having financial problems--their lawsuit liability insurance rates have probably gone through the roof! :-) -

Sick and Twisted Wishful Thinking
by Bstndance intoday i was one the phone with my mom and she was telling me that as she was driving back home she saw alot of smoke coming up near her house.
as she got closer she found out it was an old abandoned factory.
then she said, "i was hoping it was the church".

This is yet another confirmation of something I've long thought: JWs still perform stonings, just without the stones. -

***And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.***
Wow, I didn't believe that the first 9,752 times I heard it, but yup, 9,753 is the charm. Now I believe. Thanks ever so, mdb. Oh, and I especially liked the earth-will-tremble-at-his-wrath bit. Very convincing. -

stuff i think about...
by bluebeads in->is it fair/just/loving that innocent children be punished for their parent's wrongdoings etc...?
a passage from the new book released @ the dc p.131-2.
"(malachi 4:1) in that day of accounting, young children (boughs) will be dealt with justly according to jehovah's assessment of their parents (roots), who are responsible for minor children.

***What do you think/how do you reason on things you have been pondering about when you were in the truth?***
People in the "truth" are incapable of thinking or reasoning. Once they start honest thinking and reasoning on WTS doctrine, they soon leave. -

PO said automation and declining contributions reason for Bethel layoffs
by truthseeker inlast week at the meeting, the po, who has very close connections to bethel, said that he never thought he would see the day that bethelites were being sent home.
he said that the biggest two reasons he thought bethel were cutting back, was automation and a massive decline in contributions.
looks like you're right metatron about the contribution aspect being their achilles heel.

Another irony: the WTS discourages higher education, yet expects substantial contributions from members who are often not qualified to earn much more than minimum wage. It's like shooting someone in the foot and then expecting them to dance.

The only thing one can say with certainty about life is that life is uncertain and that we all will eventually die. To concentrate only on the fearsome aspects of life and ignore its wonders and pleasures is the only thing to be afraid of.
Zen proverb: A Zen monk was walking near a cliff when a tiger started chasing him. The monk jumped over the cliff, but a young sapling broke his fall. At the bottom of the cliff, another tiger paced, waiting for him to fall. The sapling the monk clung to started to tear away from the cliff. At that moment, the monk spotted a wild strawberry growing next to the tree. He picked the berry and exclaimed, "How sweet it tastes." -

Here's the explanation for haunting:
"Gozer the Traveller will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveller came as a very large and moving Torb. Then of course in the third rectification of the last of the Meketrex supplicants, they chose a new form for him, that of a giant Sloar. Many shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."

The quickest, best way to have a Witness open their eyes to being a cult
by free2beme inmy sister was probably one of the most loyal witnesses out there.
all her responses were pulled right from the watchtower thinking, "sorry you feel that way, but i believe jehovah's witnesses are god's people.
" well in time we came to an agreement, "you do not bring up your negative thoughts on the religion, and i will not try to get you to come back to the religion.

***I don't try to change them anymore. ... Despite all the f***** up stuff in their lives, they made a life together, better than some and they raised a good son (for the most part, lol).
Maybe one day they will see. Until then, i will love them as best i can and try to honour them as a good son should.***
That's exactly how I try to treat my elderly JW parents. At their age, I think it's kinder to allow them to keep their illusions.
