To break mind control, there have to be a few "cracks" already present in the form of doubts and questions. Nothing will break the mind control of hard-core JW, because the mind turned to concrete a long time ago.

by breeze in.
i wonder how many are still drawn to the beliefs but just don't believe the wtbts is jehovah's representative on earth and the only hope for mankind?.
of course we know some are not correct like 607 bc and 1914 and 1975 etc.. breeze

There's only one JW teaching I believe with my whole heart: RELIGION IS A SNARE AND A RACKET.

God's name ??
by Ade ini know this has probably been covered before, if so i apologize for dragging it up again.
1) is it acceptable just because its an accepted pronunciation to call god je-ho-vah
2) should the witnesses constantly be saying jehovah this and jehovah that, as it seems to me to be taking up gods name ( if it is correct ) in a worthless way.

A number of alternative pronunciations for God's name have been used with varying amounts of reverence on this board. Some examples: Jehoover, Joho, Yah-no-way. And just today, I noticed this new variant: Jehahahahaha!
Take your pick. The JWs' god is worthy of all of them. -

I celebrated Christmas again in my late 20s after a 15-year gap. It was a blast!! It's been my favorite holiday ever since, with Halloween a close second.
Each Christmas reminds me of the Christmases my family used to have when I was a child, before the JWs arrived to blight our lives. I bake enough cookies for my husband, my son, and our (nonJW) relatives, friends, and neighbors. We always have a real tree, and when we decorate it, each ornament recalls something our son made for us when he was small, vacations we have taken, people we know, and family who have died -- it's a deeply emotional time. We open our gifts on Christmas Eve, always accompanied with a glass of wine and Belgian chocolates. On Christmas day, I bake a monster smoked ham, purchased from a local butcher. All our family gathers together (minus the JWs, of course) and enjoy the ham plus all the trimmings, and they open the gifts we have saved for them. After everyone has left, my husband and I sit with ham sandwiches and watch the snow (if any). It's like "A Christmas Story," but without all the mishaps. -

Wish me luck and pray that all goes well for me.
by lovelylil inhey everyone,.
my hubby and i decided it is time to sell our little starter home and buy something a bit bigger.
one reason we are doing this now is that my sister who is developementally delayed and lives in ny needs a new place to stay.

I'm sending positive thoughts your way, lovelylil. Don't worry too much. It's a little tricky getting the timing right on the buying and selling, but it works out somehow. Enjoy your new home.

That's why I call the JW religion the "drug" of choice for emotionally dependent people. They go to the DC, get stoked up on the "end of this system" talk, and sit there in an indoctrinated stupor, enjoying their high of temporary certainty that they'll soon be living in the new order. The colors! The colors!

Yates verdict
by sammielee24 inthe andrea yates verdict came down again and it was not guilty.
she will be sent to a mental facility instead of prison where in time, and after therapy, she may in all liklihood be reintegrated into society at some point.
what do you think of the verdict?

Any man that kills his family has to be at least as insane as Yates is.
Yates can now join OJ Simpson and the ever-growing list of people who have gotten away with murder. -

How the World Might Get Better
by metatron init's easy to get pessimistic about world events - but there is room for hope, if you look beyond the headlines.
there are a number of things.
that could change suddenly in the next few years, for the betterment of (nearly) all.

Yes, all those things might get better, and then new problems would take their place. That's the way of the world.
