Angelica,
***I was asked, “If not JW’s, then what”? My answer, for now, I don’t know…***
I've been out of the JWs for almost 30 years, and that's still my answer too. It's a good, honest answer. It's typical JW thinking that if you leave one organization, then you must want to belong to another. The reality is that once you leave the JWs and have time to recover, then you can decide whether or not you wish to join something else.
My JW mom once asked me if I believed in god, and when I said no, she gasped and said, "then you must believe in evolution!" I answered that I didn't believe in evolution either (I don't "believe" in evolution as an article of faith; it's only a theory, although the mostly likely theory). She was dumbfounded by my reply, because in the JW world, you have to stand for SOMETHING. They have no idea what intellectual freedom is like.
I respect your answer, Angelica. Best of luck to you.

***The government's view or a court's decision does not altogether determine what action the congreation will take.***
In other words, if the courts find you guilty, maybe the elders will too, or maybe not.
If the courts find you NOT guilty, maybe the elders will too, or maybe not.
That's the great thing about being a JW -- you always know exactly where you stand.

JWs must be the only people on earth for whom the words "peace and security" mean "destruction and death."
They should have their own revised dictionary to complement their revised bible. -

Would you honor your relatives request for no blood?
by free2beme inas i get older, i realize that a time could come where i could find my spouse and i in a situation where we could have our parents in a situation of needing blood to live and us having to speak on their behalf.
with that in mind, i know that the medical directive is not enough and they do try to get family members to do the blood to save them.
i know this, as it happened with my mother and my dad had her take blood.

Not in a hundred years. If I had any say in the matter, I'd OK the transfusion. I'd rather have an alive and angry relative than a dead one. Even if he/she never spoke to me again, I'd sleep well at night knowing I had a hand in giving them more life.

***So, anyway. Whew. I couldnt have kept that nutjob stuff up much longer.***
So glad you had a few yuks at our expense, elderbarry. I will be sure to avoid your topics and posts in the future. You're a immature, unfeeling fraud who likes to stir up trouble. BTW, that's the definition of a TROLL. -

Don't know how much I'll be able to listen to before nausea sets in, but thank you, Alan. Primary sources are always the best for precise information.

***Perhaps as a jw you experienced events in the ministry or elsewhere that convinced you that Jehovah through the angels was directing you to people..or situations.....??***
I often thought Jehovah was directing me to houses that had the most vicious dogs. I learned quickly how to back away slowly and carefully from a snarling Doberman.
