  Did You Ever Have a GOOD Body of Elders?

  when i came into the org.

  in the early 1980's, we had a good body of elders.

  they took the lead and cared for the sheep.. the oldest was in his mid- 70's, had a sharp mind, great sense of humor and was just plain cool.

  The Field Service Numbers Don't Add Up

  i took these figures out of the 2006 yearbook:.

  total # of hours in field service: 1,278,201,985. total # of peak publishers: 6,613,829. according to my calculations this equals 193.2 hours in field service per publisher, which includes pioneers, special pioneers etc.. no one in our cong.

  averages even close to 100 hours, let alone 193.2. can someone please explain this?

  What Would You Like to be Written on Your Tombstone?

  since i have a rather morbid sense of humor, and none of us is going to see armageddon................................ what would you like to be written on your tombstone?

  i'll start.. "buried face down...........and you know the rest".

  "his last word were..............boy, i'm getting hot!".

  What Things Were You Shocked To Find Out About, While In The Org.

  these are just 3 things that i was shocked to learn when i was in the org.

  they may not seem like big things to some, but they are to me.. 1. speakers at the d.a.

  had food catered to them.

  Higher Education: Is The Issue Really That Important?

  the catholics think they have the true religion, but they don't discourage higher education.. the protestants think they have the true religion, but they don't discourage higher education.. the j.w.

  's think they have the true religion, but yet they do discourage higher education.. why?

  do they really think there would be a mass exodus from the org.

  "Will I be Saved"?

  when i was about 12 years old, i used to see a religious show on sunday mornings called "amazing prophecies".

  what the ministers name was, i don't remember.

  at the end of the show, he asked those who wanted to be saved and have jesus come into their heart, to pray along with him, so i prayed along with him, because i wanted to be saved.. about 13 years later, i become a j.w.

  "Apply it to Yourself!"

  study articles, the counsel is, "apply what you have learned to yourself".. from the platform, the statement made, many times is, "apply what you learn from this talk to yourself".

  as the d.c.'s begin, once again, the counsel will be "apply what you learn to yourself".. so then, why do some individual j.w.

  's feel they have to apply the counsel to everyone, but themselves?.

  From Lurker to Newbie

  this is my first post and it is extremely difficult, but where else can i go?

  i'm sure not going to join another religion and most of you have been where i have.

  just for the record, i was a drunk, drug addict and dabbler in spiritism when i began studying, which also makes it difficult, because the j.w.
