  Does this amaze you or am I the only one????

  i will try to make this brief but how can you abbreviate love and kindness?

  this is truly amazing!!!!

  as many you have seen i ran into a small glitch on the forum the last couple of threads, without going into detail and really not necessary as there have been plenty of comments and views on both threads, i was willing to walk away from the forum because this is my nature as paul said in .

  It is indeed amazing.

  The one thing I keep in mind is something I learned before my thirty year association with the WTS-- John recorded that God loves everyone so much that he sent his son to die for us, and Jesus was willing to do this.

  Although the dissolutionment has been so overwhelming and I cannot think of joining myself to any religious organization, I hold on to the fact that while the WTS views us all (I am not df'd but my husband and I were told that we were causing divisions by not being friends with "spiritual shepherds" who treated our teen daughter cruelly) as bird pickings, we have value in the eyes of God. No human organization is authorized to be our judges, despite their assertions.

  Yes, I have found myself with no friends after thirty years of thinking I had so many, and so for this board I am grateful, as I have association now with others who see the WTS as it really is, and offer helpful information and encouragement when needed.

  Don't know what glitches you are referring to, but glad you are staying with us.

  Do you ever just feel like crying?

  tonite was one of those nights.

  the stress of the last month or so just finally got to me.

  Hope things look better in the light of day for you. I have been married for over thirty years. My husband once got me a new iron for our anniversary. Ha!! The look on my face must have said it all. Every once in a while I remind him and we laugh.

  I truly think he was clueless. He was just trying to think of something practical to save me some labor.

  We have stuck it out, and I have learned to overlook--as I know he has too. I am the middle of the tube toothpaste squeezer but for years he never told me how it drove him crazy--he just flattened out the tube. Finally we got separate tubes and every once in a while of course, I have to flatten mine. I know he loves me and I am so glad we are on the "same page" with our thinking about the Borg. We are definitely friends, and friends stick with each other.

  What is the purpse of the Jehovahs witnesses

  i have been on this site for a while looking around at all your comments and most of you have pretty good arguments and i am not trying to argue for either side i am just wondering and maybe this has already been discussed but what is the purpose of the jehovah's witnesses most of you believe that the jw organization is a cult and that they are controlling the minds of their people, but why are they trying to control the minds of the people?

  is it to get their money?

  is their reports of the jws having like billions of dollars stashed away?

  I think that the first CT Russell was really examining all the religions at the time, just like alot of others. It was shortly after the "great enlightening" spoken of in history books. People did not have radios or TVs yet, so they spent alot of time discussing religious topics and getting together in Bible societies.

  CT Russell was very influenced by the interesting speculations of his time about the influence of the pyramids on religious thinking. He adopted the current thinking, as well as the thinking of Nelson Barbour, an adventist preacher.

  As time went on, the organization that he founded began getting more, well, organized. As we know, with time more and more honing of rules and regulations follow. Now of course, every thought, action, and intention is scrutinized as to whether it is right in the WTS's eyes.

  It reminds me of the Puritans who came to this country because they viewed the Church in England as lacking in discipline and wanted to have their children in a better environment. As time passed, they became righteous in their own eyes and more and more rule oriented. Eventually, of course, there were the Salem witch trials. By this time, the Puritans could destroy your family, take your possesions, and even pronounce the sentence of death if you did not abide by their rules. Sound familiar? They accused innocent people, and anyone who did not go along with their actions could themselves be accused of apostacy and suffer the same fate. Again-sounds like an organization that we know.

  So somewhere along the way, and yes it sounds like especially with Rutherford, the "higher ups" began to set the rules, but as we know in his case, did not have to live by them. But they put heavy loads on the rank and file. If you don't go along, they can shun you, ruin your family life, and have even caused some to take their lives.

  Are parents allowed in their teenagers judicial meeting?

  a 16 year old girl was recently disfellowshipped from my congregation.

  i was told by some busybodies that she had a ''wordly'' boyfriend and that she committed fornication.now she sits home alone while her parents attend 3 meetings per week.. my questions are:did the elders meet with the parents first to let them know what the offense was?

  were her parents told what the judicial meeting would be about and how it works?

  My husband was an elder for over twenty years. He was present when the "spiritual shepherds" talked to my sixteen year old daughter. When they began to question her about fornication after telling my husband that there had been no accusation of any, he began to object. They told him he was just there to "ovserve" and ignored him and went right on for over two hours. They called her a liar, then df'd. her. That's why he WAS an elder.

  my story is pretty much just like everyone else's, "only the names have been changed".

  in reading your posts, i have both laughed and cried till tears ran down my cheeks.

  Welcome to the forum. I enjoyed your first post. Your sister is being obedient. She was asked to shun you and so she has. She has not been asked by the WTS to give up her luxuries and way of life. I suspect that they suggest that witnesses keep a simple life but do not demand it of them because then they really would lose adherents. They are cruel but not stupid.

  We can not change others; but we can change ourselves. We can truly look upon others and know no separation at all. Not in an egotistical way, but rather as if we have dissolved and there is just the wholeness of life and conscious existence.

  I don't understand this--then again maybe I have a limited capacity for deep thinking. Sounds like the Christian Scientist view that there is no such thing as sickness--it is all in the mind. Then they die like everyone else.

  jesus said, "i am the way, the truth, and the life.

  " he didn't say he had the way, or that he had the truth, or that he had the life.. according to the bible, jesus is the truth; if you know the truth, the truth will set you free.. jehovah's witnesses set their dogma and religion in the place of jesus.

  they refer to their dogma and religion by a role that jesus said he would personally fulfill; they call it "the truth.".

  Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." He didn't say he HAD the way, or that he HAD the truth, or that he HAD the life.

  I always felt that knowing Jesus was paramount to our future prospects of life. I was totally dismayed when I realized that the WTS said that Jesus is the mediator of the 144,000 and not of all mankind. That left them as our mediators and intercessors when the Bible clearly states that there is one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus.

  I do feel that Jesus IS the truth--and our mediator--and our means of life--no matter who we are. That being said, I do not believe that Jesus is God but the mediator between God and men.

  This was admittedly a few years ago. Three young brothers were announced as df'd at a meeting. A young pioneer sister at the same meeting was reproved. After the meeting a few people went up to the reproved sister and hugged her. At the next service meeting, there was a special needs part given about not hugging someone who was publicly reproved. The elder said, "Would you put dirty underwear over your head? NO!"

  For the life of me at the time I thought it was so bizarre. First, how would we in the audience have any idea of the reason why she was publicly reproved? I don't know what his tirade meant unless he was trying to tell us all that she was now considered "dirty" due to perhaps an act of fornication, and hugging her would somehow rub some of her filthy condition on us? I did feel horrible for the young sister.

  My Bethel Experience final chapter

  there were other people who either killed themselfs or tried to kill themselfs while they were at "the house of god.

  one person who did kill himself was richard wheelock, press room overseer ......he jumped out of a window at the watchtower farm one day.......it seemed, he was never quite the same after his wife "willy" died..she seemed to be the only one that he could relate to.......which would make sence.....because he sure couldn't relate to any of us in the press room..........he would come over to our press and say "here is the work... get in out".......then just walk away.......he was not the type of person you would really want to talk to anyway......but wouldn't it be nice if just now and then, like every year or two, they might ask you how you were doing?.........you laugh.......but its true......i asked a friend of mind who was the press operator of press # 6 which at the time was one of the three biggest presses at bethel.

  he had been in the press room for 4 full years.

  Just wanted to add my thanks for your stories. My family and I visited Bethel three times. I had told my husband that I wanted to go to Bethel to pick out a husband for my daughter when she got old enough. I always thought the ones there were so priveledged and lived a life close to paradise.

  Newbie!!!

  been away from the truth for nearly a year now and have just got my divorce from my violent ex who is stil serving in the congregation.

  found things hard and still am, as the 'truth' is all i've ever known....so am on here for some well needed support, if thats ok?

  A life beyond ...

  i now have a life beyond jehovah's witnesses.

  i am able to impact kids in their development into young adults who have risen above challenging circumstances.

  these children are always impoverished but may be challenged in other ways, as well.. my job is to mold them into productive citizens, contributing adults.
