Talking to two J dubs on a busy downtown street
by ldrnomo inso im out of town for a couple of days for a software seminar.
it didnt start until noon yesterday so i took a walk down a busy street famous for its shopping and as i got to the end of the stores and the beginning of apartments i noticed two women standing on the sidewalk in front of what i later noticed was a kingdom hall.
as i started walking by giving them a smile and a polite greeting the one that was older, they were both young based on my terms the older in her 30s middle to late the younger in her 20s probably late.

Thanks so much for letting us know.
I hope the media have access to information about what a powerful impact his books had and continue to have on many people, allowing the only deep "insider" look into the organization that touts itself as being directed by, and in communication with God, to the exclusion of all other religions.

Audio: Generation teaching as explained at the San Diego District Convention 05-30-2010
by kurtbethel inthis is an excerpt from the final talk of the day, "remain in the secret place of the most high".
i looked around as this explanation was being offered up, and the looks on the faces of people there was mostly disinterest.
this is a very convoluted explanation that reminds me of someone running a con and trying to cobble together an explanation to deal with legitimate objections to their false claims.. http://www.sendspace.com/file/dodp4w.

How can it be comprised of two groups if one of the groups is dead?

July 15th WT Study Article - Generation PR Fallout to Keep JW's Alert !
by flipper inafter perusing through this article sent to us by our lurking jw friend- that's what i took away from this study article entitled " what jehovah's day will reveal " .
this article was printed to keep jw's alert to the alleged urgency of the times - just in case some get puzzled by the new extended overlapping generation theory and lose their sense of urgency.
i think the wt society is covering their backside here , doing possible damage control , and are very nervous about negative fallout in regards to how some jw's may respond to this extended " overlapping generation " theory being pushed.

Even true Christian's , who are keeping in expectation of that day, will be surprised by it's suddenness . "
Wha????? How could anyone be surprised? "It's so close, it is on the inside of your eyelids." "We are in the last seconds of the last day." "It is clllloooooooooossssseeee."
How? How could they be surprised???????
Must be they are not true Christians.

Will The Governing Body Enforce the New Generation Understanding and Muzzle Open Criticism Among the Rank and File?
by frankiespeakin into keep every jw on the same page about the new light on extending the generation to mammoth's lengths of time the gb will no doubt be squashing any open criticism,, even the old cronies at bethel will looking differently at the gb when that starts happening.
even the most hardcore believer will be looking at the governing body in a "new light".

It just doesn't seem to matter to hard core dubs if they have "new light" switching on and off like a living room lamp.
It has become absurd, but no matter, one must not question the GB...they get their info directly from God. They don't reason on how it can keep changing over and over.

Ya know, you think you've seen or heard it all, but then.....this poor child will not live to adulthood at this rate. Absurd.

The WHO at the Super Bowl!
by lepermessiah ini was having a conversation with a younger guy at work - he barely knew who the who was....... he was telling me that he recognized the songs but thought they sounded pretty rough.. i told him that i wish he could have seen them even 10 years ago - i saw them live in 2000 and roger still sounded awesome, and pete was still.....pete!.
the real big loss was losing the ox - john entwistle was so important to that band.
he was amazing live....... moon was a huge loss, but after je passed, i really wish they would have stopped performing live as the who.. here is an awesome taste of him in action.......rip ox............ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvl39lbzgmw.

I used to like the WHO way back when.
However, as I myself am closing in on 59, and they are several years older, I realize that they just don't fit the image of "bad boy rock and rollers." Maybe getting ready to roll in their "little rascals" around the stage.
I really hope they don't play somewhere in 2014.

You want to see people doing acts of kindness and getting organized. You also would like for the GB to "listen to reason." I thought Jehovah's Witnesses were all they claimed to be for over thirty years. It was devastating to find out that they, indeed, are more about outward show than real love. Unfortunatelly, I think the utopian dream of an organization you'd like to see will never happen in an imperfect world.
I've never seen war first hand as you have, and I realize that it was hard to live through. My dad was a Marine and fought in WWII and Korea. He lived to be 85, and I should have told him how proud I was of him, but was, unfortunately, a JW, so didn't. I am closing in on sixty now, have left the witnesses. I've been forced to take a hard look at myself, and people on the planet we share.
I have seen kind acts. There is a woman at work who took me to her group of ladies, through a church, that gets together to discuss things they can do for each other, and those less fortunate. They sponser an orphanage in South America, and missions in other areas. They have clothes drives for homeless, etc. They don't blow a trumpet to advertise. There are many other groups that do good for others. I didn't realize it when I was a JW. There are good people out there, in quiet groups, showing love...perhaps organizing drives to get glasses to those who need them, doctors who fix cleft palates in children of third world countries, etc.
Perhaps you could start by being the kind of Christian yourself that you'd like others to be. The kind that doesn't scare children. The quiet kind that works hard, and looks for good in others, not expecting perfection.
When my children ask me when Im going to do certain things I answer, "when its time". At first they dont like that. But I explain that in order for me to make my desition I am waiting for things to happen first. So its driven by my waiting for things to be right for me to act.
Take the time to calm down, breathe, and realize that you can't always wait for or expect "things to be right" but you can be a real dad now, the kind your kids are proud of, and know it will please God and Jesus. Maybe you can find a group and do volunteer work. Make a difference. I know I try to do the same.
I wish the best for you.

New Terminology
by SisoNoSiso ini've heard that "return visit" has been replaced with another term.
is this true?
if so, what is it?.
-
Quandry
Welcome, Siso.
I don't think they've changed anything, but why not? RVs...return visits.... sounded like recreational vehicles to me all the time.
So much has changed lately. PO is now COBE....chairman of the body of elders.....quite a mouthful.
The book study is in with the other mid-week meetings, the WT study is shorter, I think, and no more groups in homes for the book study. This after years of saying how important it was to go to the Book Study as it might be the only place to worship when Khalls were closed in the great tribulation.
Maybe we could think of some new names for RVs...bother agains? stalking agains?
