Confused...

hiya and... i do not really know where to begin... currently a jw... slightly starting to fade... got a girlfriend baptised... i am baptised also... my head is a mess... i do not know what to believe anymore... never really fully trusted elders as it comes to 'leading the flock'... got burned a few times with their ... decisions etc.

read a few articles in here about their alleged false beliefs... do not really know what to do... wondered if any of you felt like that at any point... when something that you trusted and followed most of your life... does not seem to be what you thought it was... .

Be patient. Time is on your side. Investigate. Read. Absorb. Take time to think before coming to any decisions. Your family may take a hardline JW stance, and shun you. It certainly has happened before, so don't think it couldn't happen to you. Read the experiences of some on this forum, then formulate your own plan.Yes, it is upsetting to find out the truth about the organization, and hard to question since you've been told so many times not to....they have done the research for you....

i told an elder that i'm not going out in field service yet but god knows why that is and it's between him and i (translation: jehovahs witnesses are not the truth and it's a colossal waste of time) and i assume the elder took it to mean i want to do it but can't for some reason because he said "jehovah doesn't know that though.

he has to see you out there in field service to know that you're serious.

At any rate, they continuously put pressure on people to get baptised then from the platform state that it's a personal choice to serve God.

Hello--new to the witnesses...and you

just wanted to introduce myself.

i went to the kh for the first time 2 weeks ago...and will go again tomorrow.

i don't believe anything witnessy...(i was raised in the assembly of god church and now the closest thing i "do" with religion is yoga or sometimes the buddhist temple).... but the man i'm in love with is a df'd jw (we've been together for 6 years).... and he wants to get reinstated just to talk to his family again (i can assure you he does not believe it).... and he wants his family to accept me because we are about to get married... so, i'm going to meetings...its very interesting, but only because it shows me more about how he was raised.

Does your boyfriend have access to his son? If not, can't he go to court to have shared custody? During his time with his son, he should take him various places, depending on his age, to help him see life. Museums, shows, art, sports, travel,etc. He should help him to see that he has his own choices in life to make.

The posters are correct about you going to the meetings. It will not make it easier for the b.f. to get reinstated, and may make it harder-they will see you as the source of his sin and will definetely want you two to break up until marriage.

You are in a tough place, and a no-win situation. Please don't lose yourself and your individuality in trying to please everyone else, especially when we all can assure you won't please the JWs in any event.

A true hero ...

today is the 25th anniversary of terry fox's courageous attempt to run across canada.. terry is a personal hero of mine.

it was my privilege to run with him when he was in nova scotia, and i am so glad i did.

it was one of those things that you do at the time, just because it feels right, having no idea what impact it will have on you, and something i will never forget.. it was a foggy, somewhat rainy day (lol, go figure!

this is a very disturbing account from a jw girl who posted this on another site.

please don't read if you will be affected by the comments... i'm 23 years of age and i was raised as a jehovah's witness.

thanks to my cousin for introducing me to "apostate" videos online, and a few other major reasons that i will get to soon, i've disassociated myself for a little over a year now.

JWs preparing for some "Special Top Secret Meeting" does anyone knows about this?

i was talking to one of my jw ex-friends today (we keep in contact every once in a while) and she was all excited telling me about the new arregment, a special meeting only for elders, their wives, pioneers and other sheep of "exemplary" conduct... (of course she was invited)..... something about one meeting from bethel that is going to be broadcasted to everyone at assembly halls and translated via radio for those who cannot speak english... is by invitation only (and they are "being discreet w the invitations to avoid offend the ones not invited") and they even gave them tickets they have to present at the door..... anyone has the scoop??

the other day, though, i was remembering my early days of posting (since 2004) and ones i had corresponded with..... so many wonderful people who have contributed their opinions on this forum, and sent good wishes to others throughout the years.

some i've noticed still post at this forum.

O.K., I'll bite. I think she had priors and didn't take anything seriously. I think she deserves the sentence, even if it was a JW's purse that she stole. Yes, it is a hardship on her family. So was the gambling, I would imagine.

The only thing that disturbs me is that she will have room and board for those two years that I as a taxpayer will be paying for. I don't see why prisoners couldn't be out cleaning up trash and scraping dead animals off the road in a chain-gang like they used to when I was a young girl in Mississippi many years ago. They used to make license plates. At any rate, they should contribute to the cost of their care.
