The elders came to talk about my facebook comment
by cookiemaster inso, not long ago i've told you guys how one of my only two jw friends saw my comment against the borg and called me about it.
well, the little fraker also called the elders to tell on me.
i know i've been a huge idiot for posting a comment about jw's on facebook, but nonetheless i did it and what's happened, happened.. two idiot elders came all the way from the nearest congo, 30 miles away to talk to me about it.

30 miles? Haha that's nothing. My friends mom moved from Southern Oregon to San Francisco and had the elders drive 380 miles after 4 years of having nothing to do with the borg, to tell her they were DFing her because they had somehow heard she had been with a worldly man with no evidence. She kicked one of the brothers in the shin lol. The two elders who drove down there were eventually removed over the matter once it got back to the CO. I guess even they could see that was crazy to harass someone like that. -

Edit: I have tried to post my experience twice but it keeps getting cut off and not saving.
I pointed out the scripture in 1 cor that says to keep observing until the lord comes or words to that affect. After the program my wife says why are we still observing if christ came in 1919. How many times is jesus coming? She said that teaching doesn't really make sense. The wheels are turning. I also asked he if she thought it was odd the speaker didn't read or cite a scripture when stating the bible teaches 2 classes of christians. She agreed it was. I believe there was only 3 maybe 4 scriptures in the whole talk. In general the JWs don't really use their bible unless it's to selectively support doctrine.

Thanks you all for the words of encouragement and suggestions.
So I decided to go to the memorial and I'm glad I did as I was able to pick up on some point that I brought to the attention of my wife and they seemed to have some effect.

Giodoano, Yes my father was an elder for almost a decade. He stepped down a few years back because he didn't feel he was out in service enough and he did not like being on judicial committees. I've shown my parent a lot of the pedophile cases, the UN debacle you name it. Their response to the congregations not being warned about pedophiles is that they don't think any other religion warns their members either and the society would probably open themselves up to litigation for slandering someone in the hall similar to how they don't announce reasons for DFing. They think it is sufficient if the elders play policeman and make sure the abuser isn't around children. Yeah because that really works out well
Billy great illustration I got a laugh out of that one though it really isn't that funny its sad. -

Vanderhoven7 great video! You brought out some great points I had never put it together that the 144000 was pre-tribulation. Thanks! I plan on watching your other videos. -

Xanthippe, yes my family has been pretty open minded. My wife and I still do a lot of things with my parents even though they know my objections. I'm really surprised the things I've gotten away with telling them without having the big bad elders serve me a letter to meet with them. I do feel their is hope for them.
Thanks crazy guy for the suggestions that was a similar line of reasoning I had used.

When talking with my mother the other day I really didn't want to get into the heaven or earth hopes I wanted to purely focus on where the scriptures state partaking is limited to a specific group of Christians. Even if I were to agree the scriptures teach a paradise earth which I don't believe they do, nothing should prevent a christian from partaking regardless of their hope. When Jesus said "unless you do this you won't have everlasting life" wouldn't that equally apply to everlasting heavenly or earthly life even in their own doctrine? I don't see anywhere the scriptures differentiate or limit partaking. Then again the scriptures also don't teach two class christianity, like a lot of witness doctrine they are connecting dots that aren't there.
One of the funniest bits was when my mom said there are actually two covenants Jesus instituted in Luke, the New Covenant and the Kingdom covenant which in all my years as a dub I honestly don't remember hearing. So I ask if the Kingdom covenant applies to the 144000 wouldn't that mean the new covenant applies to all true Christians. She says not they both apply only to 144000 but other Christians can take advantage of the New covenant benefits. First of all WHAT?! How does that make any sense. Why would their be 2 separate covenants that both only apply to the same group of people that essentially serve the same purpose, to go to heaven and rule? Second how can you benefit from a covenant or arrangement you aren't a part of? Makes no sense. But I guess that's what you get for trying to apply logic and reason to a book written thousands of years ago by superstitious people.
I agree but lately I've noticed a lot of witnesses acting like the memorial is somewhat of a burden. My coworker is a witness. He asked me today(not knowing I'm inactive) what time my memorial was. He then said he was glad they had one after theirs so they could hurry up and get out of the hall quick. I laughed inside because I can't imagine some other christian group in a hurry to get their precious celebrations over with. I know there a lot of mentally out in the borg I wish everyone could just walk away at once. Losing thousand of witnesses all at once might give the rest a wake up call that something is wrong. gahhh cults -

This would be my first memorial I've not attended. I went last year but I was already mentally out. I'm thinking of going just so I can maybe pick something out from the talk to plant more seeds of doubt later with my inactive wife.

Hello all! This is my first post here though I've been a long time lurker. My story in a nutshell:
Started having doubts after the new silver sword and Watchtower study regarding overlapping generations. Started researching "evil" sites like jwfacts, read both of Ray Franz books, read Gentile Times Reconsidered. I haven't been to a meeting since last memorial when I was already mentally out. My wife is also now inactive though she has not woken up to the truth about the truth. I believe it's only a matter of time. Our marriage is surprisingly good though talking about "the truth" is still a sensitive subject. I have weekly "debates" with my JW mother on various topics. Neither my wife or JW family have reported me to the elders for "apostasy" because deep down I know they think it's wrong to treat a family member that way. And my parent are still trying to "get me to return to Jehovah". My dad says he read part of COC and he saw what I was saying about a lot of things but both parents can't see how this isn't Jehovahs org.
Has anyone had any success witnessing to their relatives or others regarding the memorial? Does anyone have a good strategy to show how in their own bible their ritual is a rejection of the christ they claim to follow and if they are true christians they would partake? Any scriptures or reasoning point would be helpful!
