The WTS sets this useless commandment up as a lesson of compassion. What a strange god they worship!

"You must not boil a kid in its mother's milk" - Huh?
by AlmostAtheist in"you must not boil a kid in its mother's milk" - huh?
why on earth did god feel the need to point this out?

Interestingly, so-called religious terrorists are often merely reactionaries to the corporate terrorism that has been sponsored by the global military-industrial complex. Noam Chomsky is a good source of information on such Government sponsored terrorism. Sadly, I doubt corporate media like ABC would put up one of his famous interviews.

What should I do? (stay or go?)
by Anony-Mouse inas you may (doubtfully) or may not (more likely) know, there's a certain girl at the kh i'm interested in.
very interested in.
the more i talk to her, the more i think she likes me back (i've always been a good judge of character, knock on wood :p ) .

Enjoy the feelings you are experiencing now. Enjoy the time you spend with her. Always carry condoms just in case...
Reminds me of a John Mellencamp song from my teen years:
"Life goes on, long after the thrill of livin' is gone." ("Jack and Diane")

Tonight's service meeting
by sspo inwhat a load of crap- 10 min.
asking for more contributions in order to build more kh and reminded everyone not only to give cash but don't forget about leaving something for them in your will.. 25 min.
on the proper use of blood which is also a joke.. the km mentioned you cannot take the four components of blood individually in your body but every component was broken into smaller fractions which is up to you to make a decision to accept or reject.. the common jw does not know their left from their right in making decisions about the dozens of fractions of blood but they will obey blindly and not ask a question because that would be considered apostasy.. .

I guess there was no mention about going down to the Red Cross to donate blood fractions. LOL!

Did any Man Asend to Heaven Before Jesus?
by gumby inas all faithful witnesses to jehovah the most high god well knowjohn 3:13 ).
does anyone have any idea where enoch went.....since he never died?.
the author of the letter to the hebrews says "by faith enoch was transferred, that he should not see death, and was not found, because god had transferred him; for before his transference he had the witness that he had pleased god well.

Um, in the case of Enoch, transferred=nonstop time travel to the future paradise on Earth during the thousand year reign of Christ! LOL!

Do you NEED to fade? It seems you are still wasting valuable time in this organization even though you no longer go in service. Consider the possibility that they, the elders, already see you as being tainted in some way. Attitude is everything you know. A few months ago I verbally disassociated myself directly to the P.O. But, I refused to discuss my reasons with them. Frankly, I don't need their permission to get on with my life. I really had nothing against any of them personally. It was over and I knew it. Why waste any more time. Naturally, my family was shocked and disappointed. They don't communicate with me as much as before. So be it.
My point is: stop wasting time and get out. Also, don't stoop to their level. Set yourself above their pettiness. There is no need to argue, and you know it would be a one sided argument anyway. Just disassociate, if you can, and get it over with so you can get on with your life.

The "Used of God"
by Perry inreprobate, reprobated, reprobating, reprobates to disapprove of; condemn.

used of god.

Thank you Perry for your explanation. Interesting analogy with the Hollywood movies. Epics like the "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars" certainly fit the bill as well when it comes to the Good versus Evil theme. I think it gives people some kind of comfort to see Good triumph over Evil in fiction since real life is quite often not so comforting.
In fact in real life the labels of Good and Evil are quite subjective depending on one's point of view. What is the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter? Answer: the side you are on.
Another question - what government in the world is the biggest promoter of terrorism in modern history? Reader's of Noam Chomsky's work know that answer: the United States of America.
Ironically, I grew up being taught that my country (the U.S. of A.) was the land of the free, home of the brave, and the biggest promoter of democracy and freedom in the world.
Which of these two viewpoints is true? Both. Reality isn't cut and dry simple.
Interestingly, I have noticed from my reading of the Bible that "God" is quite capable of evil thoughts and actions. And who is to say that "Satan" isn't just a victim of bad press?
In fact, holding Biblical characters up to modern moral standards is amusing. Take the "righteous" man Lot for instance. He committed incest with his daughters. Imagine him in a modern courtroom. "I was drunk at the time, your Honor." "Fine, you can get counseling while you serve your sentence." LOL!
I'm sorry, but we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one Perry.

When going door to door, what comments or questions made you think?
by tioga joe ina jw and his wife have been coming by every week.
i started out from the get-go saying that i would listen because i had an interest in all religions and would like to learn the jw beliefs just to know that they believe.
this is a very good learning experience because it makes me evaluate what i believe and why i believe it.

I recall one time when a person asked me why Jesus didn't write any books of the Bible himself. It was a very good question for which I had no answer (and still don't).

With respect, Perry, I don't think I follow your line of reasoning very well. Are you saying that apparently the vast majority of those alive as well as those who have ever lived, assuming Creation of a Biblical nature and time frame, are and have been predestined to rebel against God along with Satan in order that an elect few, proportionately so, can be adopted as Sons of God? If my interpretation of your post is a reasonable facsimile of what you meant, then may I ask: Why? To what end?
Again, respectfully, Dave -

Are YOU Basically The Same Person Now As When You Were A Witness?
by minimus inthey say "the truth" changes people from nasty, wicked people to meek, honest hearted "ones".
now that you're out of "the truth", are you back to your old ways??
did "the truth" ever really change you??

As a human being I have been constantly growing (mentally, emotionally, spiritually) throughout my life. Sometimes hardships spurred me to change and grow. At other times my increased awareness of the world around me has cause me to search for better "answers" which often bring up more and deeper questions. To answer the question of the original poster: yes, I am the same basic person. I simply outgrew the constraints of being a "Witness".
