i wonder what the rationale is for the subtle name change.
i realize they had started up a new legal entity with that name but i didn't realize that they had extended it to the religion as a whole.

As I understand it the JW's changed the name in 1935 (???) to make sure they stood out from the rest of Christianity. And now thay change it to stand apart from.....themselves????? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That has got to be one of the biggest ironies. :-) hahahahahahahahaha
i wrote the wt for a year before i was df'd over the wt-un/dpi-ngo deal.
i have all of my letters, the wt jerkoff letter back to me as well as a compilation of a simple little brochure, documenting that the wt was more involved with the un than for a library card.
if you would like to see and read it, i would like your feedback.
Here's an idea. If everyone wants to see a copy of the 1991 form the Society filled out when subscribing to join the UN to see if it is consistent with their claims (which can be viewed here http://www.jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/watchtower-un-ngo/) then instead of beating your heads against a brick wall trying to get it out of the Society why not approach the UN itself and see if they have any copies of the form from that time? Better yet there must be other organizations that joined in that year both before and after the WTS, maybe one of them could be persuaded to produce a copy of their form.
That way if the form disagrees with what the Society and it's supporters are claiming then you have them dead to rights and this whole debate suddenly move to a much higher and more dangereous level for them.
There must be a lawyer somewhere who works for a respectable firm. a businessman who works for a respectable company, someone who actually works for an NGO etc that was DF'd at one point (or maybe not) that wouldn't mind taking such a bold step to get to the truth in this matter.
I would do it but I'm a nobody and no organization is going to respond seriously to such a request from someone like me.

here, in spain where i live, the elder only give a speech about marriage&family but always they say that the marriage have been already made at the council-house (it's correct this word?
Just off the top of my head..at least here in Canada anyone who performs a marrage has to be approved by the government.
Maybe in Spain the JW don't have that approval. Not only that but going to the "council house" or whatever the local term is in your country is just the legal formality. If memory serves there is a verse which talks about paying Ceasers things to Ceaser and I believe JW's offically believe in obeying the law unless it conflicts with what the believe to be God's law.
I would think based solely on my impressions that a JW couple would view the ceremony at the Kingdom Hall as by far the most important one and whatever they have to do before the oppointed officials is just what they have to do to satisfy the letter of the law. Which is why when a JW couple split and get a divorce that it's not recognized by the religion untill one mate has sexual relations with another person. :-)

some years ago, when the 'voluntary donation' arrangement was announced, the society followed it up with a period of near panic.. they flooded the kingdom ministry, watchtower and circuit assemblies with pleas "reminding" the friends to open up their wallets.. eventually, they calmed down and accepted the situation, especially after coming up with new scams involving "deficits" at assemblies.
and appeals for property being willed to them.. .
it is with this background that i note a burst of emphasis about porn.

i have a co-worker that came from the same small hometown i did.

I don't know of any sexual abuse in the congregations I attended however bthere was physical abuse
I was tutoring the eldest child of an elder and I was quite "in" with the whole family. One day after I had finished a session with the lad i was invited to stay for supper. The second child had done something..or performed poorly somewhere and he and his father got into a huge row over it. In the end the elder took his second child outside and beat him with a stick. When they came back to the dinner table I opened my mouth and got a harsh, sharp but brief tongue lashing in return. I could tell his wife didn't approve but she didn't pour gas on the fire so to speak.
To this day i regret that I didn't get up and walk out.
