Awwwww F**k............damn those Russians. Can't get over the breakup of the Soviet Union.
You know what this crap reminds me of? Austria and the Sudentenland all over again. It's almost the exact same thing.

they say that with any trip the destination's not important but rather the journey itself.
during my journey out of the wts and thru my time on this site here are some of the people who have caught my attention in one way or another even though i never really interacted with them.
i posted this list on simon's thread announcing that jwd was winding down but then i thought about it and decided to start a topic because i want to make sure these people see that i'm thinking of them and that they meant something to me even though we never met.
Thanks DJK...that could easily be a theme song for JWD.
most of my problems in life stem from the day that as a seven year old that my uncle persuaded me that hitler had a daughter called linda who lived in hamburg.
linda hitler he informed me with a wild-eyed whisper lived on schopenstehl strasse and was a rather plain-looking young girl who worked at a pastry chef in one of the more up-market hotels that had survived an apocalypse of bombing during wwii.. .
well, it was not actually the process of persuasion that convinced me of the existence of ms. linda hitler, after all i was seven and he was thirty something, but it was his fervor that did it.. .
Hitler did have a nephew though and his nephew's family settled in Long Island after the war...though understandably they changed their names.
From Wikipedia:
Paula Hitler, the last living member of Adolf Hitler's immediate family, died in 1960.
The most prominent and longest-living direct descendants of Adolf Hitler's father, Alois, was Adolf's nephew William Patrick Hitler. With his wife Phyllis, he eventually moved to Long Island, New York, and had four sons. None of William Hitler's children have yet had any children of their own.
I can't wait to hear part 2 of your story though. Sounds like it'll be fun.
over the years i have posted many times, in many places that i was convinced there is an element working for the gb to chase posters away from ex jw sites by making life uncomfortable for them, even to get sites themselves to close down.. having seen many posters leave various sites, most of the sites give up and close down, it seems they are winning.. now this one, the premier site, is closing.. .
so sad..
What good JW elder is going to be able to state from the platform that the JWD has closed down (let alone gloat over it?)
It would create a compromise in itself - how do you know without actually lurking about the hated Internet?
Oh please...that is sooooo easy, a child could do it.
The elder reveals during his talk on the internet (after having condemed it) that many brothers have been swayed by apostate propaganda online and some actually left the truth because of it. Now however with the end so close:
"we see that some of our former borthers are coming back to us because they have seen that the world has nothing to offer. In fact they have even mentioned that may of these apostate forums and chat rooms are closing down because of all the infighting, vicious debates and loose conduct. It made one brother long for the unity and love of Jehovah's organization (quote scripture). He realized that the apostates are selfish, that they have no unity and love amongst them..." yadda yadda yadda, on and on
Really, it won't take much imagination at all to spin this big time.

Leolaia says:
DJK hit it square-on. This place is to me exactly like the Cheers bar, which is soon going to close for good. I can only hope there would be a sequel just as good, but it probably won't have all the familiar regulars I've become familiar with.
How does that go again...
"Making you way in the world today
Takes everything you’ve got
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot
Wouldn’t you like to get away...
Sometimes you want to go...
Where everybody knows your name...
And they're always glad you came..."
...and god help me I can't remember the rest...help me fill in the blanks someone.
...or on a train or whatever, and it was just the two of you, and the it was going to be a reasonably long trip... what would you say to him?
would you try to reason with him that the witnesses are wrong?
tell him what things need to change and why?
Hit on him...just to watch him squirm LOL...
BARF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Posters I'll miss (or is this another thread yet?)
Grace (Mouthy) was the first person to talk to me here. I always love to read her down to earth and charming posts. She has quite a sense of humour and is very wise, everyone's granny.
Blondie: I always appreciated how quiet and dignified, yet direct and to the point her posts are. Just like the quiet person at a dinner party who doesn't say much but when she does speak she commands immediate attention and respect.
Hortensia: I loved that her avatar was the Queen...it suits the name perfectly
Purplesofa: Always the picture of respectability and class
Outlaw: Always a riot
JCannon: Who will I roll my eyes at now??? LOL
STR8 Spaghetti...for adding that extra sparkle.
Who else can I think of...Hope4others, Mr. Flipper, Minimus, finallyfree, littlerockguy, honesty, loubelle, VM44, Mary, dawg, Leolaia, gopher, snakes, voideater, burn the ships, Mickey Mouse, White dove, ....OMG there are dozens more...so many to be missed.
Hell, I'll even miss JunctionGuy...not sure why but I will.
I'm sure I'll be adding more as I think of them.
:
i've been reading a few pages of threads from saturday until today and i can't understand why some,(actually very few) try to damage this site.
this is one of a handful of (ex)jw sites that really helps people get out of the organization.
the interaction that we have here shows anyone how we can leave the so- called "truth" and enjoy life!
I believe this side has more "brotherhood" love and spirit than any JW's meetings
I agree!!!
I agree with Outlaw.
If OdeToBlue has issues with Simon fine; however his language and tone are CLEARLY inappropriate for this forum. Voicing disagreements is one thing, insulting people and using profanity is quite another and it's clear that OdeToBlue is in violation of posting guidelines.
this is actually a serious question.. when i was a jw, i was taught all kinds of things about how horrible the rcc is.
i believed it.
many years after leaving the wts, i began looking into the rcc for myself and discovered that everything i had been told about the rcc by the wts was a lie.
The crusades, The Inquisition, the general self righteousness of their members, the fact they kept us in the dark ages for so long fighting against knowledge and progress
