This one is not really a hoax or a joke but a work of Internet art. I apologize to the creator for putting it here with the Jokes but it does not fit anywhere else. It is more a work of science fiction where the artist, Virgil Wong, explores a hospital of the future where gene therapy, nanotechnology, and male pregnancy are sold using thick, corporate rhetoric. The website is a slick, corporate, sales pitch for therapies of the future with some possibly questionable ethics.

Yes parts of it are bad but even the worst parts are better than some of the bad parts of Montreal. Halifax isn't all that bad and things are really changing there

It's sad that people believe what they want to believe and will often ignore truths that are right in front of them.
There was an article in the newspaper (I think) recently which reported on a study that concluded people are more prone to believe in gossip than the truth.

i have notice many former witnesses have lost faith in god because of a a "religion" who didnt measure up to what it claims.
If you believe that we were created then logically you have to accept the fact that God was created as well and for the very same arguements you use to point to our creation.
If we could not have come about by chance then how could a being of God's supposed power and majesty? He is supposed to be so much bigger, better, more intelligent etc than anything currently in existance (that we are aware of). If he is all these things then he could NOT have come about by chance. You can't have a cake and eat it too.
This then implies that if God exists that he 1) either doesn't know how he came into being; 2) knows but can't tell us or; 3) knows but won't tell us.
If in God's defense you choose to come back and say that with God all things are possible please keep in mind that it is impossible for God to lie. Such an inherint contradiction in the nature of "God" should give all pause to consider just what they are believing in. Not that I support evolution, there are way too many holes and sketchy evidence for my taste.
All I know is that we are here. Where we came from is not important right now and it's questions like that that help to hold us back from advancing and growing as a species. Where are we going, where can we go, do we want to go there...those are the questions I feel we should be asking.

apparently, after the last co visit, our congo got a letter from headquarters, informing us that our numbers are wayyyy down.
several inactive publishers, several more irregular, poor meeting attendance, and our hourly average is less than the national average (8.3 compared to 9.9).
This may be kind of morbid but I always looked forward to those parts because they had a habit of livening up things for a while and getting people talking...and talk they did!
A few were good, left you with a nice feeling, most were dull, drab usual routine syuff (as quoted above) but then others were scary because they were more direct than usual. Those were the ones that got tongues wagging and cast a shadow over everyone. Anything to aleviate the boredom.
when you used to go in the field service, did you go out to have 2 more hours on your report, or did you really want to save somebody's life by preaching a message of salvation ?
When I first started I was quite shy so I wanted to practice my skills so I could do a good job. I wanted to be good at what I did. I belived it and wanted to translate what i was thinking and what I knew into a viable presentation. I am good at public speaking but could never quite master this.
If your day started off right with a good presentation and they accepted then it was like a rush...a drug like effect making me want more <sigh> then it wore off. Most days were dreary but some were really good like when you clicked with someone and they agreed with everything you were saying and I'd walk away hoping it would be a study when deep down I knew it never would be and sure enough I was right.
As time went on and I switched congregations (for work) getting involved in the local politics it really dampened my "zeal".
In my last days with the JW I finally scored a study...me...on the way out and I land a study. Now that's irony.
most people have seen the posts about the expose of pedophiles on wednesday night on the nbc news.
most apostates have been aware of that problem for years, and now it looks like it's about to go mainstream.. what happens now when the witlesses go out in field circus now?
now, they are going to use that nbc report against them.
The effects I am foreseeing are many, and not pretty. The Witlesses themselves will still be as active as ever, being programmed not to take such reports seriously. But, when they get into the territory, the people there are not so programmed. They are going to get a lot more rebuttals, hard times, and even persecution ranging from pepper spray, dogs sicced on them, getting cabbages (and rocks) thrown at them, getting hosed with cold water, and in some territories even getting shot. More likely is that no one at all is going to be interested in joining an organization that has so much to hide.
In society, the Witlesses are now going to be ostracized more. The association with pedophiles, not being able to tell the average Witless from the hounders that are responsible, and the all-out attempts on the Tower's part to hide the problem expose the average members to being branded as possible pedophiles. I can foresee the day when children are going to be trained to run away from the Witlesses on sight, and adults are going to do all they can to protect their children from the Witlesses. The men are going to be harder hit. This can spill into their whole lives, even when they are recognized in stores and at work.
This won't be happening...at least not on a large scale. If it were to then I would pity a society where the people would judge every single member by the actions of a few.
When you start down that road you set a dangerous precedent. If you begin to assume that every male JW is a molester then I suppose the next step would be to assume that every Muslim is a terrorist; that every German is a Nazi and that every single Jew is engaged in a conspiracy for world domination.
Sadly though it has to be said that some people are stupid enough to actually react as outlined in the quote above showing only their ignorance and lack of respect and understanding for our freedom and democratic institutions. Being cautious and protecting people from possible threats is one thing but preaching fear and intolerance starts us down a dark path (Iraq).
all in the family is one of the very best series, in my opinion.. when i see re-runs of the andy griffith show, i smile.
when i was a kid, i never really appreciated don knotts and the gang as much as i do now.. taxi was another favorite.
hill street blues was great.
Stargate SG1 (seasons 1-8) has to be my all time fav. It's the most realistic and down to earth sci-fi show around because it's set in our time.

As a rule I don't watch TV unless I'm visiting mom or travelling. If I see a show that looks good I'll wait for it to come out on DVD and then rent it. If I really like it then I'll buy then as I have done (or am doing) with all the above mentioned shows.
