Met with the C.O., and need help with 1975
by OnTheWayOut inhere is a quick summary, in august i turned in an elder resignation letter stating that i could not teach doctrine from the governing body because i did not "know" them at all, and i had doubts.
when asked by the elders, i said the doubts spring from this generation and 1975. the elders took no action, waiting for mother to tell them what to do.
would want to talk to me on his visit.. this week, our c.o.

WayOut I totally agree with your tactic.
Avoid all doctrinal wrangling and focus on your "mistreatment" by the CO. As a CO her should be an exemplary shepherd, beyond elder standards. In addition you say he was directed by the Society to "snatch you out of the fire".
All this is license for you to go quietly away. Thank your CO for a way out, indeed.

Indisputable/physical facts
by Norm inin the bizarre world that exists within the watchtower society headquarters in brooklyn you can find all kinds of strange statements.
particularly funny is the use of the expressions indisputable/physical facts.
these are the words the writing department uses when they have absolutely zero arguments for something.

In the Bible are the indisputable facts that prove that death is the result of sin
Then why do animals and ALL living creatures die, do trees sin too?
Sorry, not "indisputable".

Laying the groundwork for dumping the "1935 anointed cutoff" date?
by sir82 inthe next domino to fall in the society's muddled chronology-based teachings is very likely to be the concept that the "general call" for anointed members of the 144,000 ended in 1935, when the "great crowd" was identified.
after 2+ decades of seeing the number of "memorial partakers" hover in the mid-8000's, when actuarially speaking the number can't really be more than a few hundred at most, the society needs to do something (as in, change the teaching, just as the passing of time necessitated a change to the "1914 generation" teaching).. at our circuit assembly this past weekend, i heard something which makes me think the society may already be laying the groundwork for this "new light".
the public talk included "4 lines of evidence" that we are living in "the last days".

Sir82, thank you for addressing this. I too agree this will be next major "shoe to drop".
The "replacements" concept was a weak stop-gap and can no longer be sustained by common sense. Also it undermines the faithfulness of dead JWs who claimed to be anointed in their lifetime.
Also the anointed count (still hovering at about 8,500) can be used as a barometer of Armageddon. If the number keeps dwindling down to zero without Armageddon this will conflict with JW doctrine (no faithful and discreet slave!).
If the number continues to sustain, or even increase as it has done recently, then the validity of the partakers is in question. But this would mean that there are thousands of apostates (false partakers) in the midst of the congregation!
Then there is the real problem:
How does Bethel keep hiring youngsters into the Governing Body when there are literally thousands of aged anointed in the ranks??

Any "tricks" you'd like to play on a JW or at the KH?

Spoke to my wife about JWD for the first time.
by nicolaou inwe went out for a real nice chinese buffet last night and enjoyed 'people watching' - like you do.
anyway, at some point the conversation came round to an old friend of mine who'd got in touch recently.
he's a 41 year old ex-dub, divorced but with a very active social life.

I actually had the opportunity to show my JW wife this site recently.
I used the excuse of finding a certain topic via Google, surprise JWD! Her initial reaction was telling:
1) Started with the JW programming: "A buch of disgruntled apostates", etc.
2) Then we found a topic about boring meetings (she agrees) and she carefully read though the experience without comment.
3) Anything harsh, critical or extreme she outrightly rejected.
4) She was facinated by the "scoopers" releasing advance word of publications, announcements, etc.
She has no interest in viewing the site for herself, but now I can be browse JWD without fear (although I don't push it around her).
I recommend finding an experience topic that would interest her and/or let her browse the site to show that many active JWs post as well. Good luck.

Just a quick pointer here:
The whole 6,000 years of human history, 1975 concept is based on the 7,000 creative days. Add 1,000 years of paradise on earth and you have the final "week" (the last "day" is Jehovah resting from creation, actually a non-creative day)
After the God's day of rest is over (6000 years since creating humans + 1000 years of kingdom) everything is supposed to be put right...happy ever after.
When the Society stopped believing in 7000 year creative days the whole 1975 thing had no relevance whatsoever.
So your CO is correct that the WTS does not currently believe this. You said:
The WTS said that the current 7000 year creative day started after Adam and Eve were created, but that the end did not come in 1975, 6000 years after Adam's creation, because we don't know how long it was until Eve was created, but the 6th Creative day ended before she sinned, therefore the end has to be 'right around the corner.'
So the end does not relate to the any creative days because we don't know how long each creative day lasted.
*** w01 10/1 p. 30 Questions From Readers ***
The "seventh day" was different from any of the preceding six days in that it was a day that God blessed and made sacred, that is, a day set aside for, or dedicated to, a special purpose. What was that purpose? Earlier, God had revealed his purpose regarding mankind and the earth. To the first man and his wife, God said: "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth." (Genesis 1:28) Although God had given mankind and the earth a perfect start, it would take time for the whole earth to be subdued and transformed into a paradise filled with a perfect human family, as God had purposed. Thus, on "the seventh day," God rested, or desisted, from further earthly creative works in order to allow what he had already created to develop in accord with his will. By the end of that "day," all that God had purposed will have become a reality. How long will that rest be?
Getting back to Paul’s statement in Hebrews, we note that he pointed out that "there remains a sabbath resting for the people of God," and he urged his fellow Christians to do their utmost "to enter into that rest." This shows that when Paul wrote those words, "the seventh day" of God’s rest, which had started some 4,000 years earlier, was still in progress. It will not end until God’s purpose regarding mankind and the earth is completely fulfilled at the end of the Thousand Year Reign of Jesus Christ, who is the "Lord of the sabbath."—Matthew 12:8; Revelation 20:1-6; 21:1-4.
Be careful when arguing this point, the Society has already brushed in under the rug...

Some incredible new publisher statistics and Graphs
by jwfacts ini have been doing some analysis on the declining growth rates of the watchtower society and they are very encouraging for all ex jws.
i will try to link to some of them below, but for the firefox users or anyone wanting to see the source table they can all be seen at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/statistics.htm.
number baptised compared to increases in publishers and number that have stopped publishing.

Great analysis.
Of course this does not take into account:
- Believing JWs who pad their numbers to maintain the 10 hour/month "standard"
- Non believing but "active" JWs who completely fictionalize their service reports so as not to appear "inactive"
- Internal spin on stats at headquarters
Considering that each of the above factors inflates already dismal production in the field illuminates the stark reality facing the future of JWs.
WTS is very aware of this and are reacting with their hype rally of 2006:
- double tract campaigns (ready made for reactivating inactive JWs with "easy" service)
- "hard-hitting" Deliverance is Near conventions
- Bible Study for Dummies (otheriwse known as the Bible Teach method)
- 2006 release Live with Jehovah's Day in Mind focusing on maintaining JW zeal.
My prediction: this is the last squirt from an old toothpaste tube.
