i just stepped down as an elder back in early november - and basically have a wife who has her hooks so far in the organization that i thought she would never bend... you know the drill - many family members in the truth - raised in the truth, etc..... well... last night we had a heart to heart about the doubts that i have been having, why i stepped down, and what i think will be a fair an equitable solution to the handling of our two kids.

it was like my coming our party - she completely bent on everything... she was completely understanding about my stance on everything, and although she does not agree - she does agree to not fight me on everything.

My Cat Has Sleeping Sickness!

my family went to my in-laws today for a pre-christmas do (i had to bow out due to ill-health).

both cats have been in the house sleeping all day.

sugar went out for about half an hour, came back in, ate some dry food and went back to his chair.

What do I do with all this WT literature?

we have tons of bound volumes, bound kms and many books.

i only plan on keeping a few of the older books with the really insane, humiliating crap, like sewing machines being a sign of the last days.

what should i do with the rest?

Watchtower teaches how to fade

when i stopped going to meetings, i faded away slowly.

we always tend to think that we are the ones who faded away and that the jw's in general wanted us to stay.. but if you think about it, the elders, ms, and every good jw who still attend meetings, are also the ones fading.

the only difference is that they are fading the people who left.

Their love for me as an individual faded away faster than I did the fade from the Organization.

How true! I stopped attending in 1994 and none of the local cong. have bothered about me since.

I did have a visit from a CO a few years ago, he made suggestions to the local elders on dealing with the situation, which to this day they have declined to do.

The Flat-Earth Bible

When I first became interested in the flat-earthers in the early 1970s, I was surprised to learn that flat-earthism in the English-speaking world is and always has been entirely based upon the Bible. I have since assembled and read an extensive collection of flat-earth literature. The Biblical arguments for flat-earthism that follow come mainly from my reading of flat-earth literature, augmented by my own reading of the Bible.

Except among Biblical inerrantists, it is generally agreed that the Bible describes an immovable earth. At the 1984 National Bible-Science Conference in Cleveland, geocentrist James N. Hanson told me there are hundreds of scriptures that suggest the earth is immovable. I suspect some must be a bit vague, but here are a few obvious texts:

1 Chronicles 16:30: "He has fixed the earth firm, immovable."

Psalm 93:1: "Thou hast fixed the earth immovable and firm ..."

Psalm 96:10: "He has fixed the earth firm, immovable ..."

Psalm 104:5: "Thou didst fix the earth on its foundation so that it never can be shaken."

Isaiah 45:18: "...who made the earth and fashioned it, and himself fixed it fast..."

Suffice to say that the earth envisioned by flat-earthers is as immovable as any geocentrist could desire. Most (perhaps all) scriptures commonly cited by geocentrists have also been cited by flat-earthers. The flat-earth view is geocentricity with further restrictions.

am looking for news story from today of woman hit in head with axe..

the reason i am looking for it, is because 2 of her daughters sat over on the side with her father in court (i think today) to support him.

the mother apparently had an affair and the hubby took an axe to her, and the girls are still supporting the father,,i was wondering if this might have had a religious side to it.

i think it happened in canada somewhere,,,would love to find the news item and possibly send it to my 4 chidren.
