Blue Mountain Fire

Around 3 a.m. Thursday, some of the firefighters in Schuylkill Haven had to be reassigned to West Penn Township where a massive fire seen from several miles away consumed a large worship hall on the 375-acre Blue Mountain Christian Retreat north of Route 895 off Blue Mountain Drive in West Penn Township. The building, which is about 300 feet long, is the main building to the retreat and houses a worship hall, guest rooms, a dining hall and other shared facilities.

Because of the rural location of the retreat just over the Lehigh County line north of Route 895 off Blue Mountain Drive, firefighters also had to use tanker trucks to bring water to the fire. But the building was beyond saving by the time firefighters arrived.

1914 - What is the importance of this date?

"we don't live for dates".

i have heard this a lot in my lifetime when witnesses get approached with any critical thinking of the 1914 year date.. this sounds good, at face value, but it's so disconcerting to hear them minimize this date when they will jump all over it as "proof" of their organization's divinity.. without dates such as 1914 societies like the watchtower simply would not exist.

the watchtower needed these dates to anticipate and use as selling points.. remember, before 1914 there were not very many witnesses.

A way of talking I’ve never supposed a JW could use.

I have had a very similar experience. 6 years ago my wife a long standing Sister in a congregation had a disagreement with an Elder; I proved the Elder was wrong. But we have been shunned ever since!

Their whole persona changed in a trice and ever since we are treated like s**t!

They are NOT the people they make out or pretend to be.

GB member in Bucharest?

one of the gb members visited bucharest and gave a speech in front of many thousands of jw from all across romania somewhere in 2008, i think.

does anyone know what was his name?.

What does God need with a Starship or with the F&DS?

it's funny how asking a simple question brings down a religious house of cards- just why does god need the f&ds, the gb, or even any puny humans to accomplish his will?

jws refuse to ask a simple question, like, where can i find just one genuine member of the f&ds?

they know that asking questions of the wt religion means retribution from the stooge elders who mete out their official punishment to doubters of the gb.

Here in the UK - a £3 fee charged for going to JW assembly hall

i cannot speak for other countries, but it has become evident of late that more and more talks are being done by presiding overseers at kh's (especially in the west midlands) and they are making it quite clear that they are expecting 3 from every publisher (per day) who visit the dudley assembly hall, west midlands to contribute towards the upkeep of it.. the quote from the po's who have done this talk have said that "it is expected that each publisher will put 3 into the box on each day".. what do you think of that then?

as the world hits an economic breakdown the jw's seem to maximising their income from struggling families.. dudley assembly hall holds about 600-700 people.

i'm sure people are capable of doing the maths.. so much for voluntary contributions !!

Definitely what publishers get out of the assemblies in information, spiritual comforting, Biblical knowledge and comradery with fellow JWs is plenty and priceless.

God/Jehovah (if he/she/it exists) has NO need for the GB, the F&DS or the JW's whatsoever

The Elders in my wifes congregation are NOT capable/able to give an honest answer to anything!

A simple question about the F&DS will receive no answer at all, just a load of lies!
