i had a conversation with my brother a while back and i was venting about my frustrations about the watchtower.. after some heated discussion my brother told me that "he needed to do more bible study because he felt weak.".
i bit my tongue because i felt this to be a little comical.. this is something that witnesses are taught to do.
if they start to question the doctrine they are programmed to seek further indoctrination.. the interesting thing about my brother's statement was he used the buzz word "study.".

It's a bit like Armageddon; soon - it's just around the corner!
can someone provide me with some information on the names and nature of a brochure by the wt with a name something along the lines of "charitable giving"?
upon learning that a close jw relative was diagnosed with cancer, and possibly on their deathbed, the "friendly neighborhood jw hopital group" showed up, had a lengthy closed-door discussion with him one-on-one (wife couldn't be present), and left a brocure and dvd in the room with a title along the lines of "charitable giving" - i'm sorry, i didn't read the full name before it disappeared.
the 'brothers' (*cough* moneyhounders in sheeps clothing *cough*) had already left this "information" and had "discussions" with him before even the family learned of the situation and had arrived.. am i right in thinking this is a "you're soon-to-be-widow doesn't really need that life insurance money" brochure?
had a good look into the doctrine, beliefs and practices of jws and to be honest, i don't really see anything wrong with it at all.. it's biblical and i've had such an eye opener the past year or so reading some of their books and magazines .
is there really any real reasons why i shouldn't want to get involved further?
:-).
Re: Are they really that bad???
Worse; FAR worse! over 50 years experience married to a devout JW.
what happens when the rules regarding medical treatment are changed because it is now decided that the watchtower god does allows certain blood fractions after all but which formerly the wts said would offend him so much that offenders would be sent to gehenna?.
blood serums are just one example.
in 1954 the societys ruling on blood serums disallowed their use because using blood serums was displeasing to god.
The Watchtower will NEVER ever eat 'humble pie', they are NEVER wrong.
The Watchtower have NO interest in locating, or trying to locate anyone they may have wrongly disfellowshipped.
The Watchtower have NO interest in reinstating those persons.
They are just a book publishing company after all!
hello knowledgeable people.. i am looking for advise on home owners insurance.
we've lived in the same house of 12 years and had the same home owners insurance for 12 years.
every year the insurance goes up about $100.00.
can somebody sum up the new rules on dealing with child abuse mentioned on another thread please.. owing to copyright it is illegal to post links to the material.
so i havent read it.. hb.
They are the same as the instructions here:
you can't be god if nobody exists but you.. sure, you are taller.
but, taller than what?.
see, a superlative is the last step among comparisons: good, better....best!.
On a scale of 1 to 10; zero
the local elders have been trying to visit me (my hubby still attends meetings and he has told them i don't wish to speak with them), they left a copy of a watchtower (on helping inactive ones to return) in my door when i was not at thome, and this last sunday asked my husband if it's ok to write me a letter saying this is what they have to do.
they can't freely stop by as we have large dogs that would keep them out.. does anyone know if this is going to result in my being df'd??
i don't want that to happen yet as my husband's parents who are quite elderly, would be devastated.
I am extremely surprised that they wish to write to you;
normally they are advised NOT to put anything in writing.
there is this sister in the hall i went to who is in her mid 80's.
she is very active and pioneers, etc.
well when i was still going to the meetings and out in service she would talk about how she came into the "truth.
YES! How true! I have had and just about coped with this for just short of 60 years!
I still get preached 'to' and 'at'.
Never a day without 'what somebody said at the hall' or 'what somebody said at the meeting'.
I loathe, hate and detest the witnesses, particularly the elders.
BUT it didn't manage to actually break our marriage up, although it sure did ruin it.
