I have posted almost exactly the same post as yours, I've just come accross yours.
I am working hard to return. I am not critical of the WBTS nor of the decision to DF me. All I want is to get back, and I have someone to talk to on the way ....kewl.
I look forward to hearing from you.
You may email me if you wish

Advantages of being a JW
by ISP inclearly there is a great deal of anti-jw sentiment here and elsewhere for that matter.
such feelings are generally directed at those at the heart of the organisation and there are no such feelings for the rank and file who are often very genuine people.. in actual fact there are some advantages in being a fully loaded jw and to be fair it would be interesting to note them down.
they can be factual or whimsical or both.

Wow and some here say the WTBS is intrusive !!!! What a question.
I am never-the-less not unhappy to answer you.
I gave a number of gifts to my family members. I gave small gifts to work colleagues who were either depressed or became pregnant, or were promoted.
They included , perfume, flowers , wine, toys, cd's vouchers etc
I have regularly supported one charity I admire.
I have also given spiritual gifts to those I witness to. ( and yes they know my status being DF's )
And dont ask for names and addresses or reciepts you wil need to tak emy word for it.
Im tempted to ask you the same question as you asked me, but frankly I think it would be in bad taste and not my business. Giving should be a private, willing act. One should not have to answer to anyone on pvt email or other. I dont mean to offend you, but I'm not surprised you never recieved and answer.
PS Other questions which I would view as obtrusive :
Who I shower with .... You may get jealous
My weight ..... Unless you wanted to marry me
My toilet habits..... They may disgust you
My salary ......you would laugh -

Any suggestions?
by happytobefree inafter reading the posts in parenting re: spanking and the wol thread, it made me ask: is there anything we can do as an individual or group to stop the abuses of the wtbs?.
i know i personally take any watchtower or awake articles i see placed in places (laudromats, hospitals, etc.
) and discard them.

You mention that you attend a church. That being the case I hope I am right in assuming you believe in the bibles direction, so here are some suggestions :
The bible says : Treat others as you would have them treat you.
Follow your heart in helpng those you think need help.
You would hate your good intentions to be interfered with, so dont throw magazines left by Witnesses who have done so with good intentions, into the garbage.
The bible also instructs us to Preach the good news of the Kingdom, so your assistance in helping kids get to college or find a home is good, but dont underestimate the value of teaching them the truth about Gods Kingdom and encourage them to hope in it.
The Bible also says -

Can You Believe THIS?
by LDH infrom the jw-media site http://www.jw-media.org.
::::do you believe that you are the only ones who will be saved?.
many millions who have lived in centuries past and who were not jehovah's witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life.

Im not quite sure what the question is, but I would like to ask this:
Is it really a stretch of the imagination to beleive that only one group and / or those associated with it will be saved?
Only one Group ( and associated ones ) were led and looked after in the wilderness, led into the promised land, released from exile in Babylon, saved in the ark, protected by an Angel ( who destroyed 185,0000 enemies in one night )
Only one group and those associated with it who
enjoyed the congregation benefits in the 1st century, who were given God appointed kings like David, who were appointed as gueardians of true worship and given a priesthood,
the list could go on and on
The point is that Jehovah has set a prescedent for favouring one group and those associating with it many many times in th epast.
So really is it difficult to imagine he will do it again ? -

Good topic
Advantages :
You get to associate with the people who for the most part are the cleanest most moral loving and warm hearted people in the world.
You learn tne truth about the bible and so much more.
If you develop the qualities they encourage, you are spared the sad bitterness expressed by so many on this board.
You can give presents as often ( or not ) as you want, not letting some tradition dictate. And the best part of that is that you dont really care about all that christmas / birthday stuff because you have so many more rewarding things to fill your time and attention.
You experience a warm feeling of brotherhood at meetings and assemblies.
You learn more about other religeons than any other religeons encourage its adherents to learn, why ?? because it serves to add to your convictions.
I could go on and on.
And before you throw your arms up and disagree becuase of personal experiance let me add :
Yes there are exceptions. Some people, ( like me lose appreciation for a while ) sometimes even congregations develop a character that is difficult for us to be drawn to. But in general we can thank our creator for a wonderful forum of organized assitance in our pursuit of pure worship and unity. -

Wow
What a lotta-comments.
Perhaps somethings needs clearing up.
Frenchy,
Where did I say I dont know how to get back? I never said that. Are you an apostate? and if so is it because you read into the publications something that was not there, like you read and misquoted me. I have already made an appeal.
Trevor
You may right, but you may be wrong. I think you are wrong. Nevertheless, if you took the time to read my message I was appealing to those of "like mind" to contact me. It is hard because I am in a new country, so I have no friends, no congregation asociation, and my wife has left me. So it is lonely and extremly isolated. 15 months is not an excessive time when a congrgation on another continent df'd me and it takes 3 months for the mail to get there and back.
Thinkers wife
Thank you. You are open minded and supportive of my right to want to get back. The others dont seem to respect that right and desire. Yet they left the WBTS for alledged intolerance.
Mommy
Jehovah set times for Israel to wander for 40 years and for the Jews to wait 70ys for return to their land....So yes Jehovah sets and allows time
Im only trying to please Jehovah by attending meetings, and those give me the only source of encouragment I can get right now.
GeneBean
Thank you too.
Yes as an Elder, District convention speaker etc I am more accountable. I deserve this, HOWEVER asking to share encouraging thoughts with some tolerant ones is encouraging. -

Thanks for the interest. I can tell you that I have tried that.
At age 17 I spent nearly 2yrs in Jail for the truth, and used that time too. Nothing since my baptism has ever been enough to make me dfoubt the truth. Sometimes I doubt some people, but not the truth.
See my comment as NickL on the post "confused"
What do you think? -

Is it Biblical to Shun??
by charlie ini'm not a witness, but i know one very well and we have had many discussions on various topics.
we would both like to know, however, if it is biblical to shun the disfellowshipped/disassociated?
where in the bible does the society base the practice of shunning or groveling back for a long period of time if a person is sorry and wants to return to the church?

Wow.
This is such a simple subject, and has caused such complicated debate.
The bible clearly upholds the non-association with unrepentant sinners.
A simple review of the WT articles on this subject clears away all the questions raised by these posts.
