ummm, everything in the magazines is creepy to an outsider I have to say.
To me anyways. More than anything, the pictures, just so incredibly bizarre. It reminds me so much of Camazotz from "A Wrinkle in Time" creepy, weird, creeeeeeeeepy!
And I've never held an "Awake" in my hands, but it seems like they do funky articles like "Anorexia: Starving for love; Why don't they eat more?"
It would be hysterical if they had a special Awake! every year titled "Jehovah's Witnesses : Best and Worst Dressed Service Year ----"
Now THAT I would want to see lol!
The best p. 1-1.5
The Worst p. 1.5-389
The God-Awful p.389-700
I hope nobody is offended that I think they generally dress HIDEOUSLY!

What the hell are they thinking?
by JeffT ina couple of threads about recent watchtower articles as made me wonder what they're thinking when they are writing them for a magazine that is supposed to be for preaching purposes.
i tried to put myself in the mind of somebody that didn't know much about jehovah's witnesses.
the stuff on weddings would have been weird at best, and the recent articles aimed at parents whose children leave the wt must strike normal people as down right creepy.

Hello all, here's my story.
by Paralipomenon inbrace yourself, this may make you gag.. holidays were spent in service.
some friends were having a bbq that we were invited to, i went down and asked to see if there were by-products in the wieners.. i was baptized at 15.. i asked to be baptized at 12 and to humor me they let me take the test.
to their surprise i actually aced it but the elder convinced my parents that i was still too young.. i would run lemonade stands in the summer time and donate the proceeds to the hall.

"Brace yourself, this may make you gag. "
*gag* I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. You were a really kinda whipped to a frenzy, zealousful dub, weren't you?
I'm just surprised you didn't mention any autographed glossy eight by tens of the Governing Body !
Ted Jaracz would look so good on the mantle.
Glad you made it out anyways! No more elders, no more crooks, no more smelly new light books.
nobody's ever said a kingdom hell...

Wendy Burgers
by pobthespazz inwhat ever happened to wendy burgers?
they finished their uk operation about 10 years ago , are they still big in the usa?.
i used to love the square burgers that made them famous and the fries were good as well , including a nice salad bar, far better then the mc**** that we see on every street now..
-

Yes, but they're now in competition with Mcdonalds to see who can create the slightest most immaterial meat patty possible.
Jack in the Box is better.
The fries are still very good at Wendy's.
Ah, now I'm thinking about fries! Oh wait, I was already.
Anybody remember Burger Kings fries BEFORE they went all "spackly" as I scientifically put it?
They were brilliant back in the day! aahhhhh the good ole days!
I still remember the adverts when they were pushing how much better (cheaper) they were, I'd give my ear or something...well I'd give an ear to have the old ones back. I don't know whose but i'd convince them it was worth it for me! -

by slimboyfat inwell the results of the english church census for 2005 have just recently been published by peter brierley in a book called pulling out of the nose dive.
it shows that church attendance in england continues to decline at an amazing rate.
first i will just give the bottom line figures, then i will add some other interesting facts and figures.

That's a shame...the number one indicator for charitable giving is if one is a regular attender of Church ;) not kingdom halls though
Willyoman, its not just ex-dubs who'd like to see the WT crash and burn ;)
I'd like to know the figures on Scientology in Britain Slimboy :)
And Kaballah come to think of it

Mormons=JWs Read these quotes from Mormons to see the same mind control
by jwfacts ini have been researching similar religions (christadelphians, church of god, sdas.
mormons, bible students) and just posted a new section at http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/similar.htm.
below are comments from mormons and x mormons that i found on the internet.

Well done JWfacts! It's so clear to see when its side by side.
Mormonism to me is so shockingly absurd you wonder how anyone was ever taken in by it. The Watchtower is ever so much more subtle, save the blaring failed prophecies that, um, didn't happen. But, its like, ok, America had....Jews...2000 years ago??? It's embarassing. Joseph Smith was either absolutely coked out crazy, or he was visited by an "angel" who was out for laughs. Who could have thought that it would have 12 mil. members???!!!
And look up the facts about the "Book of Abraham" it is reealllly quite funny.
It is a cult. My area is positively saturated with Mormons, the Mormon church that is RIGHT next to the school literally has three services on Sunday and they are absolutley packed.
I remember the Mormons in my grade having to get up every morning so early to be at the church at 5:AM before school! I always wondered about that before I knew it was a cult.
Also, the school is pretty much run by them, a high degree of nepotism for underqualified employees happening.
Mormonism is flat out stupid. And I have the facts to back that up :) -

What is your favorite way to cook food?...OUTLAW
I love to cook, and this question sparks my intrigue.
I know this, I love to eat food that has been fried in one way or another. Particularly deep fried. So, I am thinking I would love to cook with a deep fryer, it is on my wish list. You know all those things in the store that seem impossible to make at home...like donuts, that's what I want to make.
I like to make really complicated baked things.
I'd really like to have a commercial kitchen for domestic use.
I cannot IMAGINE doing what you doing and cooking all the time on a grill!! I mean, I like to cook, but get too hungry and have to use the microwave alot too. Or just eat cereal.
Its darn cold where you are Outlaw....is it snowy too? -

Well, Ok, on the news today I get what's going on a little better.
It's so funny it rarely snows on the Western side of Washington it seems to me, and to see how slick the roads got and the people sliding off or pulling their car over because they just can't drive in it... yeah, good thing school was cancelled.
I guess maybe over here in Eastern Washington we're more used to it, and the DOT seems to be better prepared perhaps with sand/plows/ de-icers.
Mulan, I would love to see any pictures of Seattle you'd be willing to post :)
I really want banana, flattened from Trader Joes right now if you'd like to send me some :)
