I'm very sorry that you had to go through the things you did without a family or friends to love and support you and help you find your way.
Hope you will find those things now. You deserve them.
How's your baby?
i don't think any of this is really all that unusual so i'm sorry if you find it dull.
i was raised in the jw cult from birth, a third generation member to boot.
my family was full of elders, ministerial servants and overseers of all sorts.

been browsing around...and i have to say it is alittle difficult to tell if this is a pro or anti jw site.
any takers on filling me in on what the attitudes are around here?
it seems there are quite afew inactive and df or da people but then there seems to be alot of chat about meetings etc.. for the record, i was raised jw from age 5, baptised at 15 and df at 17 and reinstated at 18. i would call myself inactive...most of my family are still active but talk and associate with me.
COC = 'Crisis of Conscience', a revelatory book by Ray Franz, an ex-governing body member who was at the heart of the WTS for many years.
You can probably guess what it's about from the title.
Look it up on Amazon.com (and/or at freeminds.org?)

this site is filled up with a lot of people who are very good spellers and very good writers.
who also seem to be smart.
and who generally have a good sense of humor.. have you noticed?.

What a 'great' crowd we are (no pun intended.)
;-)
its an oldie i know.. i remember, years ago, my parents had some people around for dinner that we never talked to.
after a while we remembered why we never talked to them.
the conversation was so stilted that my father, in a long silence, resorted to this question.
Wow. What great stories.
Thank you all.
in addition to all the other huge things that bug me about jws, i am also very insulted and annoyed at the way they 'mimic' some very deeply held religious convictions of other faiths.
like this woman dying for refusing blood (which would have easily saved her).
dying for your faith is a profound thing to do.

Like this woman dying for refusing blood (which would have easily saved her). Dying for your faith is a profound thing to do. But for 'no blood transfusion'? What, just pick something out of a hat and then die for it? What's up with that?
STAUNCHLY refusing all the holiday stuff. And voting. And participation.
"Confession", like it has no REAL reason for its existance, which it does. And it's not there so that people have an excuse to take a voyeuristic look into your business, either!
Prayer.
Music.
Evangelism.
It's almost like they just 'make fun' of it, in an insulting way by mimicking activities and creating a lot of stupid, superfluous rules that don't really have anything to do with anything.
Unlike the very deeply held religious convictions of many, which have a profound impact on the world and the lives of those they touch.
Do you know what I'm talking about? Is this something you have also seen?

a person years ago made a comment to me, about witnesses.
they said that in their opinion, being a witness brought out the extreme in a person.. for example, if they were untrusting, they would trust less.. if they were vindictive by nature, they would become more hateful and vindictive.. if they were kind and loving, they would even be more so.. basically, whatever type of person they were, being a witness would intensify that persona.. have you found that to be true?
maybe you knew someone before they came a witness.
Knowing that you're better than everybody makes you an asshole.
does anyone remember the advice from from the stage, encouraging mothers to remove babies from the room when they were hungry?.
how about, wooden spoons to beat toddlers into submission, preferably in front of the congegation, as to set an example in disipline?
was this just in our hall, or was it from the borg?
Ah, yes. 'Sneaky' abuse. The WT really grooms them for that, doesn't it?
dear brothers:
as you have admitted, the watch tower bible & tract society did join the united nations as a non government organization in 1992 ending in 2001, and according to the following watch tower this means that by their own actions they disassociated them selves from jehovahs organization which means that we must treat them like disfellowshiped ones.
in other words they are no longer jehovahs witnesses or have any right to that name.
'this rare event' (first article) ?
I don't think so.
i can't get over the fact the the gb of the wt society are treated like kings.
aren't they supposed to be "one of the brethren"?
the wt always accuses others of being guilty of "idol" worship when it comes to people of fame (i.e.
One small point:
Catholics are free to disagree with, to comment on, to criticize, to discuss and to speak, publicly and/or privately about their pope and other members of the church heirarchy. They are even free to say, publicly and/or privately, that they don't think there ought to BE a church heirarchy.
No one will throw them out or take other strong-arm measures to remove them from the Christian 'family'.
