I'm starting to tell on my husband

yesterday a brother called the house and asked for my husband.

i told him i'm sorry he is doing his study and i will not call him to the phone.

i told him we do not talk to each other and he would have to call him back around 11:30. he called back around 11:40 and sure sounded different then his first call.

The thinking with JW elders that the wife is at fault has been going on for years.

So you work and have your own bank account....don't ever, ever take him back. Don't give him the details and get him the hell out.

Telling on your husband to a bunch of men means nothing in this religion. I was a young girl and witnessed my best friend's sisters and mother get beat to hell with fists and belts. My best friend wasn't beat because I was an elder's daughter staying overnight with her.

I do remember my father being called over in the middle of the night to handle a beating of their mother.....he hit her so that it wouldn't show up at the KH. Huge purple bruises across her back and shoulders, .....and hips when she fell. The girls were beat with belts over their hind ends and legs as they lay in bed.

When brought before the elders, they asked the mother,... "What have you done to get him so angry? "

I have posted this before many times but it needs re-posting. This is a Patriarchal society. Women, in the end, are expendable.

Take care of yourself, tell on your husband to authorities not the witnesses.

I found the thinking so close to the JWs in so many ways. The in to outer darkness with Barb and her meeting with the elders was almost too close to home.

It feels like the Ice Age and not Global Warming

Yes its cold! Last night the bird bath and fountain froze solid.... "central Florida"...we are expecting the same yet again tonight.

As predicted, my heating bill is now at 500.00 and there are still 3 more weeks of power consumption to add to that. All lights off, and thermometer set at 68 during the day, 65 at night.....I wear a coat all day.

What the hell? Or should I ask, is this hell freezing over?

Getting my GED so I can go to college

i've been trying to get my ged for a few months now.

i bought some books and have been working through them on my own.

i came to a road block working on my own, and i decided to go for free classes offered by my local school district.

Good for you Noni! You sound determined and focused. When you get your GED, don't forget about looking into attending college on line. There are some good threads here on JWD about it. Also look in to FASFA. If you meet the criteria, the Federal government pays for a good portion of your BA. It's laborious to fill out, but once done you just have to update it each year, your school of choice receives the information, and is paid directly by the Feds. This type of grant is not taxable and not a loan.

I "HATE" Country Music...

at work our radio is on the blink and all we can get is a local country music station.

i am so sick of hearing "rockin' the beer gut" and "i got gas in my truck and butter on my biscuit... i'm about ready to puke...

I had to laugh when I read your post:

Many years ago my piano mentor wanted me to learn to play some Bela Bartok music. I told her I HATED Bartok. She said, "you don't hate it. You just don't understand it." I learned to played it and learned to love it. From that day forward I resolved never to hate any kind of music I didn't understand.
That epiphany aside, I do understand Country music. But I still HATE IT!

I hated Bela Bartok, had to learn it, and I still HATE IT! (how to turn the piano into a hideous instrument) imo.

I have come to like some country music after many years of hating it and adore bluegrass especially Allison Krauss.

Sorry Quirky, here's a country song that makes me laugh....reminds me of the days my dad was an elder and I was out with the guy I am now married to.

harvest gleanings iii, zions watchtower extra 1894. a conspiracy exposed and harvest siftings.. this may have been posted here before, but i didn't find it in the search mode.. just for fun, if you can get through this....you will learn much.. rose ball, russell's foster girl, her husband to be among others signed and/or wrote this.. it's interesting to note they also had land with oil, that they sold, bought back, etc...they were very business oriented, concerned about the printing business and the profitability, etc.

Farkel, I found the entire document ridiculous. From the infighting to the holier than thou attitudes. None of them had anything figured out except the profit margins with brothers as business partners to slander, to what they really believed.....oh strike that, what they believed a few years later.

Things haven't changed a bit no matter who is in charge. The only difference is the brethren doesn't get to hear about the in fighting anymore.

I would guess it hasn't changed one iota.

Oh give it a rest....

As a JW kid requesting anything from the back seat in a car,.....back, forward, or stop...you weren't heard until you were making noise in the KH seat that might embarrass a parent. That might mean a belt on your hind end, a trip to the back room for a beating.....or a special thrashing when you got home.

Who makes up this stuff?
