If most men decided to wear a beard today, would the JW's follow?

the jw's will say that in jesus time, it was ok to have a beard because it was their custom back then, and today jw's should not have a beard because it's not our custom to have one today.. since the world is ever changing, it will continue changing, and beards might come back and be popular once more.. it's only a cheap excuse on their part, because they will never accept beards, even if every man wore one today..

Thinking of writing a book

i've been contemplating writing a book called "from the other side" .

basically a story about leaving the jw's.

only instead of focusing on what's wrong with the jw's (not that i wouldn't have a lot of material there!!.

Hi Dawn......

I am happy to hear someone is thinking about a subject like this, it is a much needed topic to discuss. After writing my book "Going Undercover To Rescue My Daughter, From The Cult Of Jehovah's Witnesses", it brought me into association with so many that have expressed their difficulty in knowing how to heal . Adjusting to a normal life after being in a cult is the number one problem people have to deal with, most do not know how to get out of the fog.

Being a victim to mind-control techniques is in itself very difficult to get over, and then on top of that most have to suffer the loss of loved ones, (family and friends). For some it takes many years to get healed.

The suggestion of writing down your major thoughts into chapters first is a good beginning. I hope you do write this kind of book on this subject, it is much needed, and many will benefit from it.

What is your preferred method of communication?

i was prompted to think further about this today when i was reading the following in a book called "headhunters":.

"e-mails are a love of mine.

i prefer them to communicating by word of mouth.

It depends on who you are communicating with.......

but I like to use e-mails.....they are instant !!!

they assign talks (once, one of the highlights of my existence) to me every couple of months.

Two choices are always there for everyone, TO DO OR NOT TO DO !!!!!!

One must live according to ones own conscience.

You must analyze the outcome for each. If you do decide to take a stand for what you believe in, at first it might seem like all hell is breaking loose, but afterwards, will you be proud of yourself, and what about your children, and wife, will they be proud of you because you displayed strength for what you believed in? On the other hand, would you be more comfortable with your conscience by going another route to solve the problem.

No one should judge another for the decisions they make, God gave us a conscience to use, and we should only listen to it, and not to someone else's opinion.

speaking to a New Testament class, suggestions wanted

i work in the information department of a small private college.

the professor of religious studies has asked me to come to his survey of the new testament class and talk about jehovah's witnesses -- what they believe, what it was like growing up in the movement, ect., whatever.. so what do you think i should share?

What a good opportunity to show the WTS as a cult, and how dangerous a cult can be to the individule and family unit.

You can start by asking WHAT IS A CULT

Cult leaders claim they are the (Only Voice of God)

Members are prohibited to question the established teachings

Conformity and mental domination

Isolation: Members are not allowed to socialize with anyone that is not of their own faith, including participation in school programs, such as the arts and sports.

Child molestation and other criminal activities are handled IN HOUSE and are not reported to local civil authorities.

This is a happy day, to hear one more has left the Cult. There are still river of tears left from those that still have their loved ones in the bondage of false religion.

The role was reversed in my situation, I lost my daughter to this cult for 10 years. After I recovered from my nervous breakdown, I did something about it. I was sucessful, but only because my circumtances was suitable. You can read about my rescue journey from my book.

Flaws in jw religion

hi there been reading this forum for a few weeks and this is my first post.

i recently came into contact with a person who is a jw and although we respect each others religion she has recently started preching that the end is near and how much we should hate this current system.

we talk about the jw religion and she accepts my views when i question what she believes.
