  the caller tries to talk down to alex, but alex schools him on the basics of false flag terror.

  When buildings are imploded, they collapse from the bottom up, this creates less damage to the surrounding area.

  the towers fell from the top down, not the way buildings are imploded.

  BTW, has anyone checked out what it takes to implode a building?

  swarms of people, working for weeks, with the imploding devices taking up all kinds of space.

  How could those huge towers, be set up for implosion without anyone noticing?

  It's not like hollywood, where a tiny device that you can hide behind a lampshade, will blow up a huge building.

  Real technology is not that advanced.

  And BTW again, do you really think our government is slick enough to pull off such a 007, mission impossible event? c'mon!

  Is there an honorable way of leaving? ( A JW will usually turn this question into "can you leave?", and assure you that you can leave at any time!)

  Are there double standards? For example, is all non members incouraged to research and be critical of there beliefs, but members are not allowed to be critical of there own beliefs. ( A JW will usually turn this into, "we research our religion all the time!)

  Is there an us versus them attitude. Everyone in is wonderful, everyone on the outside are evil.

  Are you tought to put the group ahead of the individual? The classic one here is forcing kids to shut up about abuse, to protect the group against bad press.

  That's what comes to mind off the top of my head. The big ones to me are the double standards, and the silencing of children.

  When I was discussing the double standard thing with a die hard JW, she tried every way possible to wiggle out of it. She finally showed me proof that the Society welcomes criticism.

  Guess what she showed me for proof. Her proof was the "questions from readers" articles, no joke.

  was anyone ever told they would have been stoned to death by an elder?

  i was when i had an affair , but this elders pioneer daughter told me she understood why i had done it , i was feeling dreadfull and so guilt ridden but he said i should through myself at my hubs feet and beg forgiveness from him and had i lived 2000 years ago i would have been stoned to death !

  the strange thing is a few years later this elder told me he had feelings for me , but he was married and old enough to be my dad , although i liked him as a person by then and had forgotten what he had said to me about being stoned to death, i was a bit annoyed that he told me not to tell anyone ,and yet was telling other people to tattle tale on others , i know he felt really bad about his feelings though and i did feel sorry for him , but asked him not to visit anymore as it made me feel guilty towards his wife , maybe it was gods way of getting him to see things from a wrong doers point of view ,as he had a reputation for being very harsh on wrong doers (like myself) maybe he makes a better elder nowadays after that insight , or maybe they think i was sent by satan to seduce a pioneer and an elder !

  Did you point out to him that if you had been male you would not be stoned? In fact, you would be without blame?

  Yeah, I heard it from my authority figures growing up, not a very nice thing to hear as a kid. Until it occured to me one day that if we lived in bible times then maybe my parents would have been stoned before they even grew up. I never had the courage to ask them if they had ever done anything stone worthy when they were a kid.

  In the 1960's I think, the society wrote an article expressing there disapointment that they could not stone all the unworthies, just like bible times. I'm sure someone on the board knows wheres it's at.

  I never cease to be amazed at how un-unique the JW's are.

  I thought we were unique, I thought no other religion even came close to us.

  But they are not unique in any way at all.

  cept maybe the Jesus died on a tree thing, I don't know of any other group that believes in that one.

  i personlly have on a number of occasions: twice i've been mugged.

  i've had my car stolen.

  i've been sexually assaulted.

  I am stunned by the amount of crime in SA! How can you bear it?

  Here in the lovely green Pacific Northwest, I've had shoplifters steal from a store I owned. I also had two or three breakins, both times causing more damage then merchandise stolen.

  A couple of times I've had scary looking men aproach me when I was alone in a large parking area, I dunno, maybe they were just looking for a handout, but they scared me so I didn't wait to see what they wanted. I started screaming at them to get the fuck away from me. They both seemed startled, and slooowly backed away from me.

  If your not up to no-good then you should know better then to approach a lone woman in a deserted area.

  We really don't have that much crime here.

  I think you all South Africans need to move here. Theres plenty of ex-dubs here, we'll help you get set up!

  Did Your Mom and Dad Tell You " I Love You " Growing Up - and as an Adult?

  three simple but very powerful words .

  my son and i working together last night on my jobs talked about this very subject.

  i told him that although my witness mom was always affectionate , and tells me and my siblings she loves us , my elder father has only told me that he loves me once or twice , if that - my entire life.

  No "i love yous" or hugs for me and my siblings growing up.

  None from my in laws with my first JW marraige.

  With my second marraige, my in laws declare there love often. The first time my MIL said it to me. I probably looked like a deer in her headlights. I was stunned, I couldn't find any words to say.

  Now I say it often. I have even began telling my parents and my siblings that I love them. It took a while, but now, after all these years of never saying it, my family says it to me now too.

  My biggest complaint with vista is that I can no longer cut in paste when i am replying to a thread here.

  It has caused me to cut down on how often I post, because my typing suxs and I usually don't want type out another posters comments just so I can reply to it.

  Other then that, the vista coma is pretty annoying. Plus the stupid "Are you sure you want to do that?" popups everytime you do anything is uber annoying.

  Isn't nepotism and bias the main reason men are recommended for Eldership?

  to be recommended for eldership you must first show yourself worthy through works, such as meeting attendance and participation, field service hours and having the "right attitude" (meaning they are organization men).

  many ms will become elder's shadows, in hopes to be recommended by them for eldership.

  nepotism and bias runs in my congregation.we have 4 elders who are all related.

  If you are an elder, it's embaressing if your sons and sons in laws are not elders too.

  Elders pull out all stops to get their sons appointed, the other young bros in the hall are just TOL.
