  Disasters are great money makers for the Org. After Ktrina hit New Orleans hundreds of the brothers and sisters have spent countless hours rebuilding homes for displaced JW's. If the JW had no insurance, the brothers would rebuild their home anyway, for free. But if you had insurance, you agree to send that money to the society when it comes in.

  So the society would provide the materials, the brothers and sisters would provide the free labor and the org would receive ALL the money.

  Katrina was quite a cash cow for the society, I bet this earthquake will be too.

  Noah and the ark is such a great childrens story!

  You can easily find books, pictures, stuffed animals and bath toys depicting noah and the animals.

  Can you imagine a 3 year old playing in her bath with all those cute animals in a floating ark!

  All she has to do is use a little imagination to picture all the dead and bloated bodies of humans and other animals floating among the bubbles!

  What fun!

  as in "what do you tell householders as to how close we are in time?

  "........it has over a hundred posts on it, lots of kinda mean anti-dubs on it, but one real nice passionate dub who is so sincere and ya, he so loves his life and the brotherhood....his posts are long and he really seems nice, you can tell the other dubs love him.

  my thought is that since there is absoulutely no time link (such as a lifespan generation) how do dubs stress the "urgency" to learn and come into "the truth".......i used to do that in service, and stress to people how the time was short because the gen of 1914 was getting so old....some of the dubs on facebook have repeatedy mentioned how many millions are still alive from 1914 as if that even matters anymore....they were quickly informed that duh.....so what....wt has totally bailed on that teaching.......i feel these "last days" could just as easily bet 1000 years away even if the bible was true.......i can find zero scriptural support for wt to teach that is very, very near (they have only used the double very once!

  Well just yesterday my brother tells me he knows a sister whos husband is an elder. And she said that her husband was back at bethel helping with assembly plans and they were making plans for 2009 and 2010. At one point her husband asked "what about plans for 2011?" and the bethel boys said "We're not worried about 2011".

  So sister elder and her husband believe that that means something BIG is going to happen in 2011.

  They grasp at anything, no matter how rediculous, as a sign the big A is nigh.

  Was the use of the term "regular try-oneer" common in your area?

  it just occurred to me that i've never seen the term on the forum before.. it was pretty common in my area.

  there was a group, a clique really, of regular pioneers, mostly stay-at-home mom types who placed the "try-oneer" label on newly-appointed regular pioneers.

  it was their way of cementing their importance.

  The key thing I learned from the pioneers in my old congo was how to walk at an incredibly slow pace.

  Homicidal Domestic Violence

  near the end of my marriage to a jw husband, choking me was his favorite form of recreation and my worst form of terror.

  although i left 20 years ago, this article really shook me.

  Women and children have never been high priority to the GB.

  Without fail they tell battered sisters to keep their marraige intact and to be better wives.

  If a sexually abused child cannot produce two witnesses to their abuse, they send the child back home to continue life with their abuser.

  Words cannot express my loathing for those asswipes.

  These stories are just so effed up in so many ways.

  One thing that really jumps out at me with this story is the part where he remembered a promise he made to his son.

  So he began searching because of a promise? WTF? So he didn't start searching because that is the normal reaction of any parent?

  In true assembly drama style, he paused and remembered a promise he made to his son and thought, "I must search for him because I made a promise!"

  All the other parents were ready to write their children off as dead, but this good honest man kept a promise!

  And where was the mom in all this? Theres been a major earthquake, she does not know where her son is but she is just patiently waiting at home? The story just has way to many problems.
