i really needed to find a place to write this as i don't believe i can talk with anyone else about my account, perhaps it is similar to a lot of yours.. last night for whatever reason i said i would go online and look up information on jws.
i have been raised as a jw all my life and baptized the last few years.
i looked at www.freeminds.org and www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com and couldn't believe how easily the whole of my lifes teachings were refuted.. i can't stop my brain from running, bs just in regards to theology alone (1914, paradise earth, celebrations etc.
Gutted is a good name, that's how I felt too.
Please understand that virtually everyone here knows what you are going through.

yes a close family member of mine is getting married next weekend and me and mrs scotsman have been invited.. to set the scene - i have not been to a meeting in 2 years, 2 months and for mrs scotsman it is just under 2 years - so we have not seen any of our ex jw associates since then - but they will all be at the wedding!!!!.
we are not dad or dfd so they will be able to talk to us if they feel the urge.. the good thing is we are not the only ex jws/non jws going, so this will help.. the worry i have is what some of these jws might try.
for many of them, the last time they seen me i was an elder flying the wt flag - now i am out the truth dead at armageddon!.
I am fairly certain that a "doctrinal" conversation would end up in bigger problems for us.
And innapropriate for a wedding, it's a time to rejoice and be happy and celebrate the new couple!
my daughter was abused by an ex min servant age 13 , she is now 22 and has been with her loving caring boyfriend for a year (he is her 1st boyfriend ) over the years she has been bulimic ,self harmed and suffered low self esteem , i thought she had got better since the relationship with her boyfriend started , i found out yesterday that she is no better at all and im frightened for her , her boyfriend said "that bastard haunts her" she suffers flashbacks and post traumatis stress disorder , due to the horrific things the abuser did and said to her , which i cant bare to go into detail about as i try to block it out my mind , unfortunatly my poor girl cannot !
she has had a lot of help by a psyciatrist , counsellor etc but is no better so what can i do to help ?
have any of you been in this situation ?
I know it's awful but 7 years isn't that long.
That's why abuse is so bad, it haunts you and haunts you and haunts you.
Sometimes for the rest of your life, especially if you have no support system.
Your a great Mom for supporting her and not blaming her, that will help her tremendously, perhaps more then anything else.
And I agree with the above posters, if she isn't getting a lot of benefit from counseling, maybe it's time to find a new one. I've seen about 9 or 10 couselors over the years, 2 of them were excellant and their help was absolutley priceless to me. The others ranged from somewhat helpful to very unhelpfull time and money wasters.

If anyone sez "we miss you", give them you phone number and tell them you would love to get together for a good visit and catch them up on all the new things in your life.
I did this at a recent event, the JW's do not know how to reply to a happy "weak' person. Their eyes would get big and you could almost see the wheels trying to turn in their heads.
i have been in a world of pain this weekend.. some of you know the ongoing battle i have had with my ex wife, an uber dub hypocrite, over seeing my kids more.
3 weeks ago i managed to secure an agreement from her that provided my 13 yr old daughter friday night to sunday afternoons and for my 16 yr old son to have friday night to sat afternoon with the option to extend it to sunday if he so desires.
this is each second weekend.. first due weekend visit she rearranged the days so that she was technically pre agreement start date.
You did the right thing OZ.
