This question was constantly on my mind as i was loosing my religion and my faith in god.
But it doesn't matter how much I want to be part of a grand scheme that ultimately results in justice, peace and happiness for all humans.
Wanting something doesn't make it real.
And I would rather live in the real world, then in a fantasy.

as welcome as they are to post their opinions, i am struck by something that i recognize in myself and others as i reflect on my jw past.. basically, there comes a certain point, where if you are going to stay a jw and you are of a bit more "liberal" mindset, that you will try to change the focus a bit.. i recall this happened to me.
as a ms, i was very gung ho for most jw dogma and ways of dealing with people.
I wish more witnesses would try to defend themselves but most of them simply run like scared rabbits.
I was still scared and running for years after I exited.
I've only recently stopped running.

All the while I was an adult JW I never had anything but beaters to drive. One piece of shit car after another, I have broken down dozens and dozens of times, in all kinds of places with no cell phone.
I've learned that if your a young woman in a dress with babies in the car strangers will immediately stop to help you. Theres a lot of good kind hearted people out there.
All this time my JW hubby never showed any concern.
yesterday as i was leaving the apartment, there were two women in skirts, holding bibles at the door across from me.
i almost panicked!
i definitely want to talk the jws if they ever come to my door (no one knows me in this area) but i'm not ready yet!.

the wt will make the assertion that the witnesses have the truth (i.e.
are god's org) due to a huge laundry list of items.
of course, this ignores the fact that their teaching is that they were appointed over jesus earthly belongings in 1919. but, lets roll with it...the witnesses have the truth because they do not:.
It seems to me that the only thing unique about the JW's is their belief that Jesus died on a stake not a cross.
I believe that everything else they teach and practice is also taught and practiced by various other "religions".
i've noticed we have a few male posters here with wives who are still in the jws.
and i can think of one female poster (cognac) with a husband in the jws (although things are looking up for her).
of course we have a few spouses that came out together.. is it me, or does it seem like the women here are more likely to have divorced their jw husband--even before leaving--whereas the men are more likely to stay with their wives?
My JW hubby and I divorced and left the troof at about the same time.
I left the JW's because they were abusive and I didn't want that for my children.
I left my JW hubby becaue he was/is gay and because he is an idiot when it comes to money. We've been apart for over 12 years now and it's only been the last few years that I have come to realize just how abusive he was too. He had very clever was to put me down while making himself look good, he was a master at it.
