wow, just wow.
Can't believe that I never saw that one before.
watchtower praises donation/feeding of blood.
in year 1924 there was a tragedy reported on by watchtower.
in the process watchtower praised the selfless act of donating blood to save a life.
wow, just wow.
Can't believe that I never saw that one before.
i rang a sister who i haven't spoken to for years who said "she couldn't talk since she was cooking for the c.o and his wife who have special dietary needs......was this like a royal visits at your cong and whats with the "we can't eat flour, or yeast" or blah blah blah!
!.
I always invited them over for a meal and used my best set of china.
It turned out to be almost the only time I brought out the good china, so my family started calling it the "circuit overseer dishes"
I still cant look at that pattern of china without thinking CO.
talkin about you guys and gals?
myself and several others have gotten married coz we wanted to get laid.
in alot of cases being quite dissapointed with our "purchase" so to speak.
Asphere,
Your poor husband was probably every bit as miserable as you. But that's what happens when you're in a religion where not being married by 19 makes you a homo or some sort of freak. :-p
Oh so true Liberty. Yet another example of how the Borg truly flucks up lives.
I'm hetero, so I cant say I completely understand, but I understand as well as a hetero person can what a Gay JW (or other fundy) goes through trying to be straight, I saw it all unfold right in front of me. I don't mean to paint my ex as a bad guy, he isn't, he is a generous man who is well liked. He was only doing what I was doing, trying to be a good person and do the right thing. I do not blame him, I blame the people who claim to speak for god and then procede to trick people into believing they cannot trust their own judgement and must come to them for instructions on how to live their lives.
jacklalanne (born september 26, 1914) is an american fitness, exercise, nutritional expert, and motivational speaker who has been called "the godfather of fitness".. i grew up watchin' him on tv.
i hope he wasn't a jehovah's witness, he would have been disappointed.
at the time of his demise..
Remember when every year on his birthday he would pull a barge with his teeth while swimming across the pacific ocean (or something like that).
The man was amazing, I loved him.
i sat in on the "know your options" reading tonight, and the elder said a couple things i was wondering about:.
1. he said if a doctor says you have a high risk of dying if you refuse a blood transfusion, he is misleading you.
he said people "rarely" die from refusing a blood transfusion.
And the people who "rarely die" are usually young mothers.
If the people who "rarely died" were old coots who claim to speak for god, they would change their tune real quick and decide that transfusions were dandy.

never, ever again.
If I had had sex one time with my JW ex, I would have ran from him as fast as I could. I will never make that mistake again.
I just cringe when I hear someone is "saving themselves" for marraige, it's all I can do to keep from completely unloading on them.
I was raised a JW, married at 17, stayed miserably married for the next 18 years until hubby finally came out of the closet.
Get a person married when they are young and ignorant, and you can keep them trapped there for a long time, if not a whole lifetime. Another good way of controlling people.
i know of someone that has made no bones about being somewhat unhappily married.
they got married because they "fooled around" and felt it was the "right thing to do".. i wonder how many people are unhappily married?
?.
what do you call this.
there is clearly a distinction between the inspired writings of the bible and other writings that, while manifesting a measure of the spirits direction and guidance, are not properly classed with the sacred scriptures.
as has been shown, in addition to the canonical books of the hebrew scriptures, there were other writings, such as official records concerning the kings of judah and israel, and these, in many cases, may have been drawn up by men devoted to god.
The society loves to obfuscate what the teach, using extraneous info that is backed up with scripture that does not apply.
What you posted is a great example, I've read it several times and still can't sort it out.
To me it is saying that the GB canonized the bible

Are they saying the catholic church was once the GB?
yearbook 1967 p.105 "a large crowd was following a man who had a talking serpent...the serpent gave greetings and spoke in foreign tongues {college educated no doubt he he}...a brother passing by went into the house, as soon as he entered the room the serpent stopped talking.
the man cried out:"a magican has entered the room!...the brother asked the man: "is that a serpent or a demon that has spoken to you?....not one serpent has spoken except in the garden of eden"...seeing that the serpent remained silent the man left the house...he later was anxious to get some literature...".
how did this stupid experience get passed the bethel bullcrap detector???
The society published a more recent experience about a faithful sister in Africa whos entire family had been killed by demons and they were trying to kill her too but because of her faith in jehovah and her prayer she was saved.
Thats pretty much all they said, they didnt say how the family were killed, or why demons were to blame for it. It did not say anything at all about how they new the demons were trying to kill her too, just that they were.
It was one of the most rediculous experiences I ever read, it just made me sit up and go "Wha?"
Now I cant remember if it was a yearbook or an awake
