  New to board

  well hello all....yes...i'm a newbie.... and yep...i am an inactive witness.

  haven't been to a meeting in a while.

  my entire family are witnesses, actually had a relative that proclaimed to be of the 144000...thats how deep....this is third generation witnesses here in this family.

  Hi mary and welcome.

  For me, i don't like to use the word apostate, due to the fact that its a JW phrase designed to ostracize those with independent thought.

  As for what you say about things going on in the world, i will always remember when George Bush senior stated that we were close to peace and security and how the witnesses jumped on that. That was over 20 years ago. Prior to that i remember witnessing to a kid at school when reagan went to see gorbachov about nuclear disarmament.

  Over the years the society uses current worldwide events to put up as a sign that armaggedon is coming. You will see in a decade or so, that something else worldwide will be used by the society to strengthen their argument.

  Just my thoughts, but welcome.

  I cant stand Brown either, he has let his ego damage the labour party. I have always voted labour but in these elections for the first time i voted lib dem. I hope the labour party get the message and put in a new leader before the general election, but somehow i don't think that will happen.

  All you socialist libs across the pond have got be steaming mad about this....

  Believe it or not he is the Conservative candidate. Ken Livingstone who has been the Mayor for the last two terms is a Socialist. Perhaps this is just a knee jerk reaction to kick Gordon Brown in the teeth.

  no more bible study slip reports. WHY?

  i apologize if this has been discusses before.

  a few months ago publishers were told not to hand in individual study reports for bible studies.

  remember, we had to hand in a separate report for each bible study with name and address of bible student.

  In the UK we have whats called 'The Data Protection Act'. Within that act all information held by an organisation about an individual, has to be divulged to that individual if he/she requests it. My guess is in this country that has the society running scared. Imagine the study seeing all those reports and whats been said about them.

  This is only an assumption, but i think i don't think im too far off the mark.

  If the light keeps getting brighter, did early christians have it wrong?

  we are all familiar with the light getting brighter.

  new 'truths' replacing old 'truths'.. but what i have been thinking about recently, albeit 12 years too late, is that if that light has been getting brighter over the years, surely centruries ago the early christians got it wrong!!!

  well they did if we follow that line of thinking.

  What is the best question to ask a witness

  lets have a free for all .

  i would say why dont you have a book study anymore but that one is done to death... we had a witness recently and i asked for the latest jw only mag (he didn't realise i used to be in his cong... have i done that good a job at fading?

  ) it was a laugh to see the two of them struggle to come up with an answer.... ok lets here the best you can come up with, there has to be some better than mine, what question will leave them stuck for an answer...... .
