i'm 24 years old and have been a part of this religion for 22 years. My wife and I are working our way out of this now. I need to ask questions and discuss certain aspects of my upbringing that only fellow ex-jw's and jw's would understand. I don't plan on doing this forever, but how long my recovery will take is anybody's guess - who knows?

Motivation
by ItsJustMe ini'm obviously new here, so i'm going to ask a question i'm sure has been discussed before but has me quite curious.
what motivates you to spend so much time discussing jehovah's witnesses?

I've Had It - I Just Can't Do it Anymore
by troubled inwell, it seems we're back to the same "you're a troll; you're not a troll" thing.
it seems that my posts make too many of you "uncomfortable," you have an "intuition," you "can't put your finger on it," whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
i thought this was a place where people can post and be heard.

Crisis of Conscience: POLL
by Grout inwell, i'm finally reading coc, and i must tell you that despite already being an ex-dub i was *shocked*.
the thing that got me was the gb's apparently unselfconsciously acting above all the rules that they would apply so harshly to everyone else.
maybe i'm naive, but i didn't expect that level of hypocrisy.. so what did you find most shocking in coc?

i dunno, the whole thing was pretty shocking. i was shaking w/ anger the whole time I read it. I still haven't read the 2nd book - looks like I should.

i remember sitting at the meeting during this study. it was funny to look at the people in the kingdom hall and see them sucking in this brainwashing. i really cannot wait until I move and quit going to meetings.

active and happy jw
by scumgrief ini am an active jw and was raised as one.
i have been watching the site for a while and thought it could benefit from the opinions of someone who is happily a member of the jw's.
i will not get into any argumets that lead to nothing except name calling, and will not talk with anyone who is just plain mean (plenty of them in here).

it sounds like you have a nice congregation - I've heard that they do exist but i've always thought that was a rumour. In my hall there are "unspoken" rules such as - no sideburns past the halfway point of your ears, if you have a part it has to be a suit, not a jacket and dress pants that are different colors, if a brother is reaching out to be a MS he will not be considered before the age of 25. the hall where I grew up was even weirder, w/ the emphasis on protecting the kids of elders while ruining the lives of those who aren't kids of elders (almost got me). I wish you well in what you are looking for - but my wife and I are on the way out of this religion.

by Vitameatavegamin inhave you ever felt as a jw that you had a label on your forehead?
there may be a good reason for that feeling.
i don't know why, but i was thinking about this today and wondering if the elders and others in the cong.

there is a reason why inactive and irregular publishers are coming back to meetings all over the United States - they are scared that this is "it" and they don't want to die at armageddon. they are salvation seekers and you have said so yourself - you are too. don't you think Jehovah will see through that? I find that pathetic.
