I've been slandered my whole life Biggs....whethers its been because of my hair, my sideburns, being called a "player", listing to "debasing" music...i could go on and on. I think the people who slandered me the most (as far as I've heard) would be my brother in law and his wife. There is a reason we hardly ever visited your congregation in the last few years Biggs!

Escape by Metallica

as some of you already know, i'm a huge metallica fan, i'm not too crazy about the new stuff, but i like the older stuff up unitl about 91. many of metallica songs have a dark side to them; death, war,destruction, misplaced justice, etc.

one song that seems to stick out that one can relate to escaping the watchtower is "escape" on the "ride the lightning" album.

there is no word in watchtower speak (theocratise) that carries more emotional charge than apostate.

to be labeled an apostate is the lowest low worst than pond scum.

in jw thinking, there is more hope for a pedophile or a murderer than for an apostate.

the JW's can dish out all of the hurtful words they want but if you call them "you people are sick" or "brainwashed, following the organization" they get really upset....thats been my experience with my mom. she's a brainwashed JW. oops, there I go again.

Thowing away WTS Publications

in the past weeks, i have been throwing away my 32 year library of books.

the feeling of freeing myself from the weight of the lies contained within the pages was my objective.

i have always been afraid of letting them go just in case it was the "truth.

hi judith - i don't know your situation, but my point of view is that today's new light is tomorrow's old light...5 years from now I am sure that many of the things taught today will be laughed at and the JW's will be glad that "the light keeps getting brighter and brighter..." i was initially very angry and threw out some publications, but I have the CD-ROMS, the two Live Forever books, the two Truth books (i think its the Truth book, where the reference to 1975 was removed on the 2nd edition), and thats about it...

Research help

i'm having very stressful dealings with my parents lately....can anyone please help me or direct me to the right place on the 1995 or 1999 cd-roms about (a) where it tells you to investigate your religion and (b) where they bash other religions.

here's the letter i mailed my parents 2 days ago. i had to stretch the truth a bit with regards to being an "apostate" but other than that its dead on (i took out all names):

Mom and Dad,

I wanted to write to you after the emotional phone conversation between me and mom. I want to assure you that I love you both very much and I really don’t want to hurt you. I do not wish to discuss anything to do with those topics for the forseeable future as they only seem to disintegrate into an attack upon my character flaws and the reading of various scriptures at me, which I’m sure causes you great pain and I can assure you does the same to me. I am not “apostate” or anything like that. I have valid questions that cannot be answered and that is all. I respect your lives and where they have taken you and I wish that you would give me the same consideration. I would very much appreciate it if you did not tell my personal feelings to your friends. These feelings are between me, Jehovah, and you. DIM's wife feels the same way as I do about everything. If you feel that keeping DIM's sister away from us is the right thing to do, then by all means please do that. But if you do decide to do that please let her know that we love her very much and that we wish she was allowed to be with us. I wish things hadn’t gone as poorly as they had on the phone today, but they did. I hope we will not have a strained relationship in the future, as I love you both very much. Anyway, I hope to hear from you soon.
