I remember working in a grocery store when I was 14 (12 years ago) and at first I was told that I would not be able to sell cigarettes or stock them....I think they eased up on that over that year maybe....which means, I think they would be able to sell the pill. but i could be totally wrong here, beats me.

Could a JW pharmacist give out the morning after pill?
by Atilla inthis subject came to mind a few days ago when a saw a news article about a pharmacist working at a eckerd drug store in texas.
a woman came in for the morning after pill but the pharmacist who was very religious-not a dub-went in the back of the store and prayed about his situation.
he says that god told him that this wasn't ok, so he along with the other two pharmacists refused to give the pills to the woman.

Tacoma Dome Parking Scandal
by VM44 inremember the tacoma dome parking scandal?.
it was reported a few years ago that the wt would charge witnesses for parking at the tacoma dome even though the contract with the dome stated that no parking charges were to be made.
of course the people in the kingdom halls were not told that, only reminded to be sure to pay for their parking!.

I've never been to the DA out here, but I remember when we went to Veterans Stadium in Philly that you had to buy your tickets in advance, then your tickets would come in....although I think Philadelphia made the JW's use city employees for parking, so I don't believe it was a scandal.

Stupidest thing a JW ever told you
by Nosferatu inwhat is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

#1 Stupidest thing said from the platform:
This would be from Brother Dentler's visit to the Willow Grove, PA congregation, late fall 2001
"people in NYC are getting AIDS and other diseases because of TAINTED BLOOD in the aftermath of 9/11"
uh, there weren't that many survivors that needed blood, dumbass. He totally made it up. My wife and I have commented many times on the fact that he looked around right before he said it, like he knew he was getting ready to tell a whopper.

"Lost in Translation" (with Bill Murray)
by LittleToe inwhile i was away on a recent road trip i had the opportunity to nip into a cinema to kill a couple of hours.
having see everything i wanted to see, during the week, i decided to watch the only thing that was starting at that time "lost in translation".
i didn't know anything about it, other than that it was going to help me bide my time, away from home.. i groaned inwardly, when i saw bill murray hit the screen, as i'm not especially a fan.. however, i was deeply moved by what was portrayed, along with the japanese neo-cultural explosion that was evidenced.. i hope this doesn't mean i'm reaching a mid-life crisis, however i found it profoundly disturbing.. http://www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/2003-09-30/film_review2.html.

hi there badwillie....how are things???
my wife and I watched the movie....thought it was absolutely brilliant. Bill Murray has been on top of his game for the last 5 years or so....if you haven't seen Rushmore or The Royal Tennenbaums, rent them right away. But Lost in Translation was perfect...the acting - Scarlett Johansson was perfect, as was Murray. The music perfectly fit every scene - much like Sofia Coppola's first movie, The Virgin Suicides....brilliant

JW's and Unemployment benefits
by PopeOfEruke inthe wt society is so proud in promoting the notion that all jw's are so law-abiding and how they pay all their taxes.. yet there seems to be no moral problem for them when a jehovahs witness elder can be a full-time regular pioneer and at the same time collect unemployment benefits.
and not just in the short-term but in one case the elder has been a full-time pioneer for many years, all the while collecting unemployment benefits from the government.. so if there are any active brothers or sisters reading this post, could you please explain to me how this is not dishonest, just as dishonest as not paying taxes?
why are jw's the biggest 2-faced hypocrites around?.

I don't think you can seriously make the argument that ALL JW's are dishonest. Thats ridiculous. Just like you can't make the argument that all XJW's are honest, its just not true. There are good and bad people in all groups. Thats humanity.

If the JW leadership is all about the money, what do they want it for?
by True North inin the brief time that i've been reading jw-related postings and sites on the net, i've seen a lot of stuff regarding the jw leadership being all about the money with the implication that there is something unsavory about their acquisitiveness.. if that is true, what exactly do they want it for?
from what i've read, the gb seem to live reasonably well (better, in fact, than the average jw would expect, i think) but it hardly seems anything that would have earned them a spot on lifestyles of the rich and famous.
so, why would they be so concerned about amassing organizational wealth?

I think they are super evil and using the borg to take over the brains of people all over the world...either you are for or against...either way you are thinking about the super evil borg and their mission is accomplished. They must all be sitting in the ivory towers in borgland laughing at all of the jw's and xjw's always thinking about the borg.

it seems pretty clear to me that no laws are being broken and even if its a vague understanding or stretching the meaning of the law, it still falls within the definition....not something you'd neccesarily want from GOD or GODS ORGANIZATION but legal.

if your parents are active witnesses, i wouldn't even try to persuade them about anything...especially the whole UN thing. My parents basically laughed at me and told me i was nuts....brainwashed.
